Aka humanitarian bowl. This was sadly before my time as a Tiger but did anyone on here attend that game?
1. How did we end up there
2. How was it? I imagine it just have been a little different experience than our typical bowls

Yes, it was a great bowl trip. Skied at Bogus Basin. Threw snowballs in the stands at the game. Fun and different kind of bowl trip.
We hadn’t won a bowl game since 1993 ( lost 5 bowl games in a row) so Tommy lobbied for it as he wanted an easy win to get that monkey off his back.

Ha! It was all we could get at 6-5 and losing to coots. But I was glad for the win for sure

Think Clemson lost money on this bowl as the payout was less than expenses. One of the few games Clemson has ever played in the snow. Weird seeing white snow on Boise State's blue field. Beat Louisiana Tech in this game and played them again in the first home game in 2002.

Some of you guys that complain about losing a game occasionally should have been around then. No one had heard of Clemson outside of the state in those days.

We also had agreed to buy more tickets than then the who cares bowl or Clemson could only dream of selling. We bought the bowl bid. I personally thought it was embarrassing at the time.

I remember this bowl trip well. We got the bowl because of the huge number of faxes where fans committed to come to the game. I flew into Salt Lake City and got a rental. I drove over the mountains. The wind was blowing hard and it was cold. Saw lots of mule deer. It snowed the morning of the game. I took my Clemson car flags, magnets and tiger tail for the trunk. It was fun driving in the snow to the game, and I got some looks for the locals. I talked to some Clemson students in the parking lot who drove all the way from Clemson. Yes, there was a snow Howard's rock for the team to rub as they came into the stadium. The blue field with snow was impressive. Clemson fans got called down for throwing snowballs. I made my few minutes of fame on ESPN when they showed me wrapped in a tiger blanket with snow all around me. It wasn't that cold during the game around freezing. I've been to colder games. I had no idea as I didn't have cell phone. I heard all about it when I got home. It was a very fun bowl trip. I was able to drive back through the mountains with no problems to fly back.

Being from Boise I can say that it most definitely would not compare to anything the tigers are use to today! The stadium today I believe only holds around 38k fans! It’s such a fun and iconic field though no matter the crowd size it’s just unique playing on it! (Got to a couple times playing little league football years ago)

Was from there and got a late score...ess accused of running up the score. We ran out w/ a Woody sbt 6 ft tall & hard & replica snow sized Howard's Rock & pedastle. I was a sophomore in high school. It was referred to as the Humiliation Bowl by yardbirds

I think I remember freshman Roscoe Crosby catching a swing pass and taking it for a touchdown. One of Clemson’s highest rated recruits ever.

Woody Dantzler is probably why I was a Clemson fan before an alumni.
I was born in 91 (in Easley) and my grandpa loved college football. He was a dawg though but my first memories of every watching tv are vague memories of watching football. All the colors I was like woah! We would go out and throw the ball. Anyways he took me to the first of many Clemson games we would end up going to together.
*Side note. It’s why I love giving crap to other team fans but I’ll always respect the other team. My grandpa a diehard UGA fan could have been like no… we’re not going to a Clemson game but he could care less. He just loved football and wanted to spend time with his grandson. My other grandpa (on my moms side) was a diehard Clemson fan. We always watched the games together on tv.
Anyways, I LOVED Dantzler.
