RBs that we have had come and play FB for our Clemson Tigers, but it is still IMO that we still haven't had a RB to this day, 10-22-2019, better than CJ spiller was during his time at Clemson. A CJ Spiller in the offense we have today, he would have broke every record that a player could have set with a FB in his hands at Clemson. CJ was the man coming out of the back field at Clemson University, and I don't think I'll live long enough to see another CJ Spiller like RB at Clemson. CJ was most of the points scored during his time at Clemson, and CJ has become a Great Ambassador representing Clemson University!!! CJ's #28 still rides with me on the fender of my Harley!!!

The runs that CJ Spiller made, can still put those chills down your neck and make your face light up when he touches the ball!!!
CJ was the real MO-Tor

Man it was great watching that video. There were so many times where absolutely nothing was there and he found a way to squeeze thru and pick up big yards. There will never be another CJ28 that’s for sure.
Also it was cool hearing ole Doc Walker calling games back in the day for Jefferson Pilot sports. That voice reminds me of Saturday’s as a youngster. I’d watch the games and then go in the backyard in my full Clemson uniform, pads and helmet, and do what the Tigers did in the game.

Absolutely, if CJ hit our Wheel Route at the right time without the side he was running to being plugged up, or if a tackler didn't wrap him up, put 6 on the scoreboard bc he was gone. CJ's ability to hit top speed running through traffic was a thing beautiful to watch, it was hair raising, and I don't think I ever seen him run down from behind in his 4 years at Clemson!!!

I agree, but I would have loved to watch Terry Allen in this offense.

We had some GREAT tailbacks in the mid to late 80’s that I think would compare favorably to the more recent backs like Spiller and Etienne. Not to take anything away from the modern guys, just saying they’re all great. Allen and Flagler had pretty good NFL careers.

Thanks for the memories! It's easy to forget just how good CJ was.
On a side note... did you notice just how many different uniforms were in that video? I'm so happy that Dabo has toned it down and standardized the uniform selections.

CJ is my all time favorite tiger. Hands down the fastest most electric player I have ever seen with my own eyes on a football field.
But I’m not sure he would break all the records now. Back then he was the offense and we won or lost based on him many times. Now he would get 10-20 touches a game max because of the silly amount of weapons we have all over the field.

Respectfully, I have to disagree with you on this one. If we are talking pure athletes, Spiller was probably the most versatile player Clemson has ever had. He could run and catch with the best of them, and he was the best KO return man Clemson has ever had. However, I have never seen a Clemson RB as good as Etienne. If we are purely talking about “running the ball,” #9 is better than anyone I have ever watched at Clemson in my 41 years. To me, while Spiller was amazing, he tended to shuffle around too much in the backfield and would often take nominal gains (or losses) when he could have done better by just hitting the hole. That’s why I though James Davis was the better dedicated running back when they played together because he would hit holes at the line better. Naturally, this is all just my opinion. Have a great day.
P.S. Incidentally, I think that the man that followed Spiller was a better pure RB than he was. Ellington was really good.

ETN has some advantages, but I would take CJ Spiller over him any day of the week.
His versatility and ability to make people miss was on another level.
When it comes to just running and taking handoffs, ETN is right there, maybe even better. But Spiller is superior in every other way.
