Clemson-Georgia on Athlon's potential early-season upsets

Athlon went through the potential early season upsets and picked Clemson's neutral site opener with Georgia on Aug. 31 in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Clemson is currently a 13.5-point underdog to the Bulldogs (FanDuel).
Clemson Tigers vs. Georgia Bulldogs (Aug. 31)
The Clemson Tigers will play the Georgia Bulldogs in the Aflac Kickoff Game at noon (EST) on ABC from Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The matchup rekindles the non-conference rivalry between both programs, which have met 65 times before. The most recent meeting ended in a Bulldogs 10-3 victory on Sept. 4, 2021.
With Georgia aiming to reclaim its spot atop the college football world after being excluded from the 2024 College Football Playoff, the Bulldogs can ill-afford to stumble against the Tigers.
While Clemson has taken a step back from its status as an annual title contender in recent years, the Tigers are still one of the ACC's top programs and have the roster potential to claim a major early season victory.
Look for this matchup to be tightly contested throughout the game.

I believe we can absolutely win this game but it will take a strong effort with very few mistakes and our playing at a really high level.
We just can't beat ourselves because UGA will be a big enough challenge as is...

We would need a good performance from Cade, and with a healthy receiving core, and with two freshman receivers that has the ability to create space, I think we see Cade perform the way that we believed that he would when he signed with Clemson!!!
Last season was Cades 1st season of college FB and the 1st season is tough enough just getting use to the college game, and it's very difficult without his best receivers to throw the ball to. We will see a much different Cade Klubnik than the one we saw last season. Go Tigers, Go Cade!!!

Hopefully the team will be arrogant and not expect much of a challenge. I remember a mid western school doing that to us some decades ago: Everything coming out of their mouths was, “please show some class and don’t embarrass us”. Then they proceeded to win the game.

I was in the stands in Jacksonville and watched a Kentucky team lead by Devin Leary - Devin Leary - put up 28 offensive points on the Tigers. Clemson ain't holding Carson Beck and UGA to 13.

If and I emphasize If Georgia wins it will be by 7 or less. Dawgs will probably face the best Defense they face all year against the little ole TIGERS!

D will keep it close for 3 qtr, but UGA pulls away in the 4th with a couple late TDs due to our D being gassed. I have no faith in our offense to play complimentary football. Hope I’m wrong, but don’t think so.

As much as I hate to say it, until I see something different from Cade, the OL and our WRs, I would say that's probably a realistic score. Our defense will be very good but UGA's OL is massive and unless we get something out of our offense, we will likely wear down in the 2nd half and we CANNOT have turnovers!
