The hardest one of these changes to enforce will be no more
Aug 27, 2020, 5:35 PM

Gathering at the Paw at the conclusion of the game. Little kids will not understand why they can't greet their heroes like they always have. And, lots of picture taking opportunities will be lost.
This danged virus has reduced us to acting just like an SEC crowd.
ps: Not me of course, my dilapidated butt wasn't going to be there live anyway. But, I do feel bad for those whose normal gameday activities will be sorely disrupted.

Looks like I'm out. My max time for wearing a mask is about an hour. After that I get ill. Good luck to those who can inhale their own CO2 for long periods. I never knew that was supposed to be a good thing until recent months.

I don't particularly like not being able to tailgate. My past guests can attest to the fact that I don't take my tailgating lightly, but no tailgating is the protocol prescribed by Clemson. If they allow it, it will lead to LARGE gatherings at single tailgate spots. I plan to "tailgate" IN my vehicle. If you don't like the protocol, then take it up with CLEMSON.

Folks who are high risk should seriously consider not going. Don’t think I need to take this argument up with them as I’m sure they would agree. Downwind, upwind doesn’t matter. Individuals need to make the best decision for themselves based on their own risk factors and the reality that 19,000 people will be in a constant state of removing and reapplying their masks while they eat and drink and yes, others won’t wear masks at all. But again you are outside in fresh air and distanced which is one of the lowest risk places to be, mask or no mask.

Wearing a mask in the stadium is CLEMSON'S policy.

If you don't like the policy, take it up with CLEMSON. The stadium does not belong to YOU. It's not like they are asking you to cut your arm off. Sheesh.

Just in the last couple of weeks 2 great friends of mine died from this virus. I didn't even get to attend their funeral. They didn't think much of respecting these guidelines either. Bet they wish they could get a do-over.

The people who are talking about 1) cheating the spirit of the intent of the protocol of wearing masks, or 2) planning to blatantly violate the protocol simply because of the inconvenience or because they don't agree with the protocols, could be the ones who get going to Clemson games shut down. IF this happens, I will throw their rebellious/whiney/political/selfish posts back in their faces.

+1 It's a selfish person who isn't willing to do that small part in trying to help contain this virus. If it will save 1 life, or even prevent one person from getting sick, it was worth the inconvenience, IMO. I'd hate to know I were the one who caused someone else to get it.

Oh yes, it would haunt me if I knew I was the one that caused someone to die simple bc I didn't like wearing a mask. And for those that hate wearing them so much, stay home, you don't have to wear one at home, and if you're at home, your chances of getting the virus is slim if you're not allowing people in your home without a mask!!! There is a sign on my front door that reads, if you're on my porch, you are required to wear a mask until you're off of it!!! And if I look out through the peephole, and if they don't have on a mask, I don't open the door while shouting go get a mask!!!

I believe that what you've said should have been pointed by every T-Netter that has click on the post, but that just me bc, I believe what you've said is the plain and simple truth. Yes the mask is annoying, but wearing it is without a doubt the most considerate, respectful, and the safest thing that we can do for one another. It has always been said that America is the best country in the world, and the least we can do for our country, is to help keep our fellow men, women and children as safe as we possibly can from this covid-19 virus as possible, and wearing a mask is the safest way even if that's not your personal belief, just go along if only to show that you do care about others and yourself!!!! When people see you without a mask, they are having negative thoughts and opinions of you, and they see you as being a bigger problem over the pandemic!!!

Taking mine off when I get to my seats. Can’t see them running up and down steps to police that. Should get 1 forgiveness before they kick us out.
Just bring a water bottle with you and hold it in your hand the entire time. Maybe even take a drink now and again, it's good for you. Since you are drinking you are not required to wear a mask. This is how the bars in NC do it

“Little kids” don’t attend games in their own...will be easy for parents to keep them off the field. If a parent lets their kid go on the field, they aren’t much of a parent.

Also its the parents who just turn the kids loose, and act like kids on the field. With ticket restrictions how many of these parents are going to give up their tickets for the kids to go. I can see kids being left out cause dad and mom or dad and his buddy will go. If someone is getting 4 tickets kids might have a chance. Adults ruined "Youth Day" in the spring a couple years back.

I suspect we have seen the last “Gathering at the Paw” ever. Rumor was that CUAD wasn’t a huge fan of it as opposing teams felt it was unsafe. This gives them a chance to end it and use COVID as an excuse. I don’t expect it to return in ‘21.

But most other opposing fans that believed that it was unsafe before covid-19, they were the jealous ones bc they aren't allowed to get up close to their players in their home FB stadium, plus, opposing fans hate seeing great traditions at the stadiums that they visit, and it gives them something to turn into a negative, and talk about with their fan base on their sports board. I mean, just look at how most opposing fans talk crap about our team getting on the buses and making a trip around our stadium before entering DV, and touching the Rock and running down the hill before the start of a game at Clemson. Opposing fans hate great tradition at the schools that has great tradition.
The emotion that affects the human race the most is Jealousy!!! And with the success that Clemson FB has had for the past decade, Jealousy has been abundant with college FB fans and the sports media around the country. Every sports talk radio station in the SEC and the ACC mention Clemson FB at least once every single day that they are on the air... Coot Radio host here in cootlumbia, they bring Clemson up almost as much as they talk about their gamecoots!!! Jealousy, nobody likes experiencing that emotion, and Clemson FB success has filled fans around the county with that emotion, I love it!!!!

I doubt if there will be many small kids at the games so that should minimize disappointment at not being able to gather at the paw. With the one hour time limit for leaving the stadium people will be anxious to be on their way home.

The most idiotic thing about this is that except for Citadel, there’s not another game til October. The hospitals are already empty and we’re being forced to accept that we’re going to be in a pandemic for...months??? Just wait til flu season hits. Oh and by the way..... I wonder how many people will do their drinking and tailgating before they head to the parking lots.

I hear 15,000 season ticket holders plus band members plus player’s parents equal the 19,000.

I believe the ACC announced that Bands will not be permitted at the games this season.

I believe I read that the band cannot be on the field. I have not seen anything addressing the band sitting in seats.

If the goal of fans was for football to happen and for us to win another ACC and National Championship then this announcement should be no surprise. If anyone wants to blame someone for anything, blame Governor McMaster for not requiring masks in the beginning and maybe things would be different.

Masks do not stop the virus, it's simply out there and we simply have to live/deal with it, positive or negative, come what may - and God bless us all. A virus is 3 microns or less in size, and not even HEPA filtration in pharmaceutical clean room facilities will stop it, let alone a simple mask, N-95 or whatever. It will stop the phlegm and mucoidal substances when you cough, or sneeze, or even exhale, but the virus itself doesn't stop. And it can float in the air much further than 6'-0". However, life does go on. This is not an apocalyptic event, in spite of our personal tragedies. But, guidelines are guidelines, and it's certainly safer to follow them than not. It's a herd thing, kinda' like a stampede.
Go Tigers!!!

I appreciate your post and the fact that you seem at least somewhat knowledgable about the topic, few actually have an iota of any real knowledge of the spew...tum they speak. N95S are actually good to 0.1 microns, at 95% efficiency. So, while not fully effective they are pretty good for a virus just slightly larger than 0.1 microns. The information about HEPA filters only working to 0.3 microns is actually incorrect although published by media all over the place. HEPA filters work with extreme efficiency down to 0.01 microns. Just an FYI.

Since the virus travels in those mucoidal substances, I would think that when a mask stops a particle of a mucoidal substance, it stops that instance of transmission of the virus. So no, the masks do not prevent transmission, but they reduce the probability of transmission. That is my understanding of the transmission mechanism. Like you said, it is safer to follow them than not.

To all the whiners and complainers before you go to the stadium and take off your mask, pleas stay home and watch from the couch without a mask. Our team and our coaches are working their ##### off to pull off a season of football. They are wearing masks at team meetings and when they go to class. There is no way you know whether you are shedding virus! 10 to 20 people without masks shedding virus and screaming could infect everyone on the field . A screaming or singing person can contaminate a room but you will be elevated above the field no one knows how far that aerosol will travel. Protect our team! If you are not willing to follow the protocols, please stay home! GO TIGERS!

What is the student allocation?

May have missed it as I skimmed through this but have they determined how many of these will go to students? I’m guessing that also the Hill will be closed?

You know they'll screw us over for the wealthy donors.
Most students going to lose 1/4 of one of the greatest experience of being a student here so Carl who donated 25,000 can leave at halftime 3 games and not show up for 2.

Isn’t enrollment around 19,000 now? I would have loved for the policy to have been only students attend. Would have been a wild time! But, I’m just glad we’re playing and at least some fans will be in The Valley! Go Tigers!

This football season will be canceled for sure. It won't be because of the virus but because of all of you that plan to attend the games. There will be the contingent that will refuse to wear a mask and then you will have the mask nazi police who will be reporting the mask bandits. That's gonna go over really well. And if you run short, I have a cabinet full of grinding shields. Some of them are made to fit a hard hat even. There's an idea, you could all wear hard hats for extra protection from the Rona and debris that gets thrown during the fights about no masks. Oh and please wear them while you're driving to and from the games in your cars. Y'all enjoy.

Maybe it’s time for the “major donors“ to think about the students. They should donate their tickets so that students can be their “real fans“. The students are only there for four years of their life. Seniors only have one more year. They are having so much taken away from them. Especially the student athletes who’s sports have been banned for this year. Maybe they should have first Dibs on the tickets.

I guess we'll all find out in about 2 hours, but

- Interested to see how many of those ticket allocations will be for students. A good portion of them, I hope.
- There's no way The Hill will be open.
- Information to date doesn't specify whether people getting tickets will get the full season, or if they're splitting the season ticket allotments into chunks so that twice as many ticketholders will get to attend half as many games.
- I already knew there was absolutely no way they'd let people on the field after the game, but it's still sad to see it in writing.

What I want to know, is why (when usc's stadium is smaller) do they get 20k fans. We have a larger stadium and get 1k less people in the stadium.
and why did I just have a George Floyd BLM ad pop up on the corner of my screen??

To minimize virus risk from attendees at games, no cheering, yelling, or loud exclamations will be allowed. Only rapid breathing through a spectator’s nose will be acceptable. Violators will be immediately removed from the stadium and banned for all eternity.

Has the athletic department considered giving out noise makers (bang sticks) to encourage people to keep masks on?
