1) Fix the defense. A lot of differing opinions, but one common theme seems to be emerging about the DC/LB coach. A change has to be made and made quickly.
2) Special teams. Our punting game is awful---did we even flip the field ONCE this year?? No, we didn't. I've seen better punters at the HS level this year. We can't block for the one of best FG kickers in the country. Why?? Fix it.
A lot of talk about the portal but it's sure looking like we have an emerging need at QB......

Here are my specific ones
1. New DC - If the DC is also a LB coach then keep Reed and Eason but take away Run D coordinator. Rumph staying would be OK with me but I wouldnt be upset if he left. If the DC isnt a LB coach as well then let the new DC get his guy for that spot along with Safties
2. Dedicated ST coach. Say goodbye to Gilchrist and Evans
3. RB Coach. This isnt going to happen bc Dabo is so tied to CJ but it needs to. It would be a great story if it worked out for CJ but I just dont see it.
4. If you can convince Jeff Scott to come in and be Asst HC (title to lure him back) & Head Recruiting/Portal Coordinator. We need him back on the recruiting trail

Agree with all of this except: new DC should be able to bring in his own people at the DE/DL position groups. Reed should stay, IMO. This whole "friends and family" thing on defense isn't working.

Generally I agree.
Reed has more than proven himself over the years.
Eason I would give more time. We took away his best player and move him to DE. He also lost Cape and Williams to injury. He is also reportedly pretty good on the recruiting trail
I don't see either as a "Friends and Family" move if they are retained. Now if a DC came in an replaced everyone, I couldnt argue with it. I just dont think a new DC will totally clean house.

Any new DC that is experienced will not come to Clemson because Dabo will not allow them to bring their own assistants..he will not allow Clemson guys to be released. Conn is protected. Honestly if a new DC is brought in , I think coach Reed leaves. If we are changing maybe he should get a shot at the DC spot. He has been loyal and consistently produces NFL players at his position.

Reed is technically "co-DC"....."IF" Dabo were to promote from within, I'd much rather see Reed get it than anyone else on the staff.
But ultimately, I think Dabo needs to hire from the outside to bring in some fresh ideas.

If we knew that Reed would stay under a new DC I would prefer we go looking outside.
But there could be a trade off. Unless we get the next Venebles would the upgrade over Wes get blunted by the loss of Reed? It could be.

I would be mad. Stop with the hiring-in-house bull ####.
And while we’re dreaming, clean house with strength and conditioning. Batson needs to retire and take his kid with him.
And still think we could get a better WR coach. (Know that’s not going to happen) They are still
underperforming in my opinion. Lots of inconsistencies.
And get rid of all the former players on staff getting paid to be “analysts” and “developers”.

Agreed as well but I just don't see Scott getting back in coaching, at least not at this level 😔 Recruiting and Portal evaluater would be huge, we'll see.

Nova, unless I missed something, CJ did not hurt Mafah's shoulder. From the beginning, it was clear our plan was to take all the short to medium passes we could get and Cade threw 3 TD passes which was 1 less than Texas gave up all year. CJ has 2 exceptional backs coming in and if they can block and the line can continue to get better, the running game has a chance.

Oh I am not blaming him for Mafahs shoulder and actually I give him a pass for that. I also don’t blame him for Haynes injury.
But Shipley never reached his potential and Mafahs game never evolved beyond running people over. I agree he has talent in his room, he always has, but I haven’t seen our RB grow in their game like I think they could have.
Now if CJ stays, I won’t flip a table. Of the ones Inlisted it’s the one I am least passionate about

impact players from the portal supplementing what we lose / missed recruiting evals. Coaches have to be honest about our lack of talent in certain areas.........none of this "we like the guys we got".
then #2 head to the coaching staff and trim the fat of overpaid/underperforming coaches.
