12) Clemson vs 5) Texas : 24-10 Clemson
Texas has had the best pass defense this year. They’ve allowed 4 passing TDs along with 19 interceptions.
The only passing offense that Texas has played that was better than Clemson’s was Georgia.
Texas shut down Georgia’s passing both games.
These stats of course don’t include x-factor players.
Carson Beck does not pose as a run threat like Cade does. And rushing offense success is what beats Texas.
All 52 points that Georgia scored on Texas in both games came from Georgia’s running backs.
That said, say Cade continues his success on the ground, and Mafah strengthens back up and can get about 5.0 yards a carry and a TD or 2, Clemson has a good shot.
The threat of Cade running will go a long way. As opposed to their QB having no threat of that happening.
I expect Clemson to simply pass at will though. And with success. We’ve seen Dabo orchestrate Heisman caliber QBs against these types of defenses. And yes, Cade will show the world his greatness.
But what I expect the most is for our defense to do exactly what Georgia did. Cause absolute havoc on Quinn Ewers.
I seriously see Clemson’s defense forcing a couple turnovers. We are really good at it.
11) SMU vs 6) Penn State : 28-24 SMU
SMU is elite. I’m telling y’all. Clemson made them look subpar a lot of that game, but they showed what they were capable of. As well as James Franklin being a master choker.
10) Indiana vs 7) Notre Dame : 27-13 Indiana
Indiana is also actually good.
9) Tennessee vs 8) Ohio State : 30-27 Tennessee
Ohio State loses on field goal
2nd Round
12) Clemson vs 4) ASU : 35-17 Clemson
Arizona State’s main threat comes from their running back. They are an average passing offense. I see Clemson scoring quickly and a lot, and ASU won’t be able to keep up by running the ball and running time out. They will be forced to throw into mistakes. Leading a to a comfortable win.
9) Tennessee vs 1) Oregon : 34-30 Tennessee
Oregon chokes. Different times, but they have that awful pedigree. I mean, so does Tennessee, but I like Tennessee that has some confidence after beating Ohio State.
10) Indiana vs 2) Georgia. : 38-10 Georgia
Not much of explanation needed. At least in the first playoff game, Georgia handles business.
11) SMU vs 3) Boise State : 38-27 SMU
Similar to Clemson vs ASU.
Semifinals
Sorry y’all I seem biased, but if Dabo, Cade, and a Clemson defense makes it this far, there’s no slowing them down.
12) Clemson vs 9) Tennessee : 31-17 Clemson
I seriously think Clemson has the most formidable pass rush in this whole playoff. And Nico won’t handle that well.
11) SMU vs 2) Georgia : 31-24 SMU
I see this game similar to Georgia vs Alabama. But except Kevin Jennings is a phenomenal passer. And his legs are vastly underrated.

I like the way you think, but we will see. Mafah hasn't been Mafah in a few weeks now. It's time he regains his form and shows out. He needs a great performance in these games to get where he wants to be in the draft, IMO.

I don’t even think Penn State is that good
Certainly not good enough to the point where that game is an afterthought already.
These are all top-12 teams, regardless of where Clemson finishes, they mostly will be close games.
Just like they would be during the season.

If Venables was coaching our defense...then some of those scores could be accurate.
Texas concerns me because of their depth and overall size and speed against our front. Wes is going to have to come up with some exotics to get through that offensive line.
Penn State may be an easier match up....but their Tight-End and their Quarterback are gamers.
Tennessee could carve us up when they have the ball. Their defense is also very athletic. That doesn't mean good things when our running game is struggling.
Ohio State....they have lots of depth....plus we tend to miss tackles in our secondary. They would wear us down.
Arizona St.......I like the match-up...but it will come down to tackling for 4 quarters. Trust me there is a lot to tackle.
Notre Dame has an O-line and some decent weapons on the outside that I believe we could hang okay with. When they go 3 Tight-Ends is where they could get us on crucial downs.
It would definitely be an interesting battle with Indiana and Boise State. I think it would go just like the game between us and SMU.
Getting penetration and stopping the running game Georgia has ....has to be precise. It comes down to adjustments coaching-wise...which we don't do enough of.
Oregon has too much speed......period.

Sounds like some on here wonder why we even play the games. Anything can happen. I just hope we finally put our team and game plan together and execute well. That seems rather optimistic since we haven't done it yet this year. Lets hope we put it together for these games.

Most realistic predictions I've seen so far. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
One game where you're wrong though. Georgia vs Indiana in the second round. Indiana is a powerhouse this year. UGA has shown real vulnerabilities. Indiana beats Georgia 38-10.
Luckily you nailed every other prediction, and I still think SMU beats Indiana by the same score in the semi-finals.

I have not seen anything special from the DL outside of Parker to make me think this is true. Seems like QBs have all day to me.

Between Lannoris Sellers and Kevin Jennings, there had to have been at least 5 times combined that we had them sacked, but did not.
I just believe it doesn’t get better than Clemson when it comes to D-line. And being in the playoff, those guys will be killing it.

I hope Clemson beats Texas. The last team in the playoffs I want to see win it all is Texas. I just haven't seen anything from Clemson which leads me to believe they are going to come out of Austin with a win. Hope I'm wrong.
