I saw some intimidated cops wuss out, is what I saw. You can see the one cop at the door try to hold back one of them but the guy just pushed past him and went up the stairs and the cop visibly let him go.
They did not look happy. Which they shouldn't have. They were definitely not covering themselves with glory there.
But hey, if you want to see conspiracy the cops were in on, by all means. Don't let your own videotaped evidence stop you.

The cops were probably wondering why all the extra security requested by Trump was denied by Nancy Pelosi. IMO the moment any protester (peaceful or not) took one step beyond/over/around the security barriers they were in the wrong. Anyone who entered the Capital building that did so outside of the authorized channels (and no - cops letting protesters in on J6 is not an "authorized channel") was in the wrong and there really is no defense for what they did.
I have no idea if Federal agencies were in the protesting crowds on J6 and if they were active participants baiting and encouraging people into illegal acts. I certainly wouldn't put it past the FBI and their surrogates/informants but I also have no definitive proof of it either. REGARDLESS - anyone who was not properly authorized to step beyond the security barriers or entered the Capital building on J6, either as tourists, peaceful curiosity onlookers, or people with violent/destructive intentions - WERE IN THE WRONG and should face the consequences of their actions.
The truth is the DC ecosystem (DC establishment elites, the lobbyists, and media support system etc...) has hated the kind of people in that J6 crowd for a long time. After 4+ years of watching the DC swamp denigrate, investigate, and drop any pretense of objectivity towards Trump and his supporters, these J6 protesters should have darn well understood not to do anything to hand the DC swamp the very rope with which to hang them. Simply put, I don't care if the protesters were baited into action by DC operatives or anyone else - they darn well should have known not to step across a line that would give the DC swamp the legal basis to go after them. Ultimately they only have themselves to blame for the predicament they are in and if they were too stupid to understand just how much the DC system hates them - they certainly do now. Like I used to tell my Soldiers - "Sometimes you pay a price for being stupid".
I have no doubt the DC ecosystem and their sycophants who clutch their pearls while breathlessly feigning "OMG - Insurrection!!" actually take great delight in the stupidity of some of the J6 protesters and are extremely happy with the illegal events of J6. That even goes for some on this board. The DC elites and their ecosystem have taken every side road and hyperbolic highway to extend the political mileage out of J6 and will gleefully continue to do so knowing that the legal system supports their position. They wish to extend the J6 "OMG - Insurrection!!" actions to ALL Trump supporters in order to demean and silence their very real policy concerns (immigration, energy, cultural Marxism etc..) as unworthy. While I find their "OMG - Insurrection!!" antics eye rollingly stupid - the people who entered the Capital building hand delivered them the very basis for it and to defend that basis is a suckers game that just feeds their continued pearl clutching.
Now - if someone wants to talk about the DoJ/legal systems treatment of some J6 folks (i.e. non-violent people with no past criminal record sitting in jail for long periods of time without charges) or how differently J6 protesters have been treated compared to other protesters by Government agencies, then that is a worthy discussion. But to continue to play the edited video game to prop up a certain position (either the Liz Cheney "OMG - Insurrection!!" version or the Tucker Carlson - "they were nothing but innocent tourists led astray" version) is total BS political narrative making that will do nothing to change how either side views J6.

There is no way to argue that being "peaceful."
A peaceful protest would've been people standing OUTSIDE the Capitol, behind the barriers in place, without fights and weapons and violence breaking out.
Arguing that these nut jobs were somehow "peaceful" when trespassing on government property is ludicrous.

Peaceful protest is fine. Fighting and injuring cops, breaking into buildings, burning buildings down or threatening people is not fine.
This is not really that hard. For those defending the January 6th crowd that fought the cops and vandalized OUR Capitol, I strongly suspect if this had been a bunch of leftists pulling the same stunt that we’d be hearing a different story.
Those defending the Jan 6th antics, the George Floyd rioters or the Pro Hamas antisemitic protestors are defending the indefensible, but go ahead anyway. Wrong is wrong.

The difference is the perception.
BLM riots were “mostly peaceful” while some of those protestors killed people.
Yet, January sixth rioters are in prison even though only one person was killed, and that was a woman who was let into the building.

No doubt the narrative that BLM is a reasonable organization is laughable. This outfit took the Jesse Jackson grift page to an entirely new level.
There was no excuse for the looting, arson and rioting following George Floyd's death. None and the BLM organization is a group of Marxist folks who like Capitalist things such as beachfront mansions that the idiot corporate CEO's gave massive sums to allow them to buy.
However, despite the fact that the George Floyd rioters were not being denounced in no way absolves the idiots who invaded the Capitol to attempt to disrupt the end game of the electoral process.
The rioters following the Floyd death and on January 6th should both have been given due process and trials given. That process has been more stringently applied it would seem to the Jan 6th crowd and at times not in accordance with our usual processes with the Jan 6th folks.
Nonetheless, I have no sympathy for those that fancied themselves as patriots on Jan 6th.
