please STOP! Same thing happened in the 1st half for the coots- you hav to control the ball all the way to the ground! I am old and don’t wear glasses but immediately knew it should be reversed as soon as I saw the replay on the big screen! I don’t like the rule but it IS the rule.

This also doesn’t explain once the player has made a football move. I agree, if it’s a catch in the end zone. He caught it outside the end zone and had two steps in before hitting the pylon. He is a runner at that point, or anyone else that possesses the ball that is running and carrying it over the line.
Don’t mince rules. If it is a rule that the player catching the ball must maintain possession after the catch to the ground even when the ball is caught outside the end zone line, then I would like to see that and will admit I’m wrong

Sorry, should have also said that the officials called it a catch before the end zone. He made a football move into the end zone in which case, once the ball crosses the line, it’s over. TD

He did not survive the ground. It was not a TD.

The rule only applies if the player is going to the ground with the ball. If a player gets one foot down in bounds and doesn’t fall down, it is a catch whether in the end zone or anywhere else

The two steps were part of the fall, not football moves.***

I agree the rule is clear. It was not a TD.

Both were TDs. The rule is ridiculous.

Which other rules are ridiculous and should be ignored by the refs?

By the letter of the law correct but the rules stupid. If you break the goal line and then fumble it’s a TD… if you catch a ball in the end zone make an athletic move the play should be over. Nothing matters after there’s clear control.

Falling down or diving while making a catch is not considered making an athletic move regardless of how many feet touch in bounds.

Actually neither was a TD and the correct call was made after replay in both cases. Just because you don’t agree with a rule doesn’t change the rule.

They 100% were. Anyone with common sense could tell there was clear control in the box for both

Agree. People don’t know the rules. Like you, as soon as I saw the replay, I said it will be overturned.

Yea. A lot of folks just don’t understand the rule. The ground can’t cause a fumble but it can cause an incomplete pass. And it was ruled a catch and out of bounds short of the goal line on the field which was completely wrong. He crossed the goal line inside the pylon so it had to either be a touchdown or incomplete.

Told my brother-in-law before the replay that it had to be a TD if he held onto the ball
