How does this work without an official “draft or trade” period in college football? Just wondering.

calls from other schools.
everything is possible. so they could be following the rules but not bloody likely.
they all have agents now and know what is on the table before they declare.

That is an obsolete term, from a bogus ruke that was used to illegally restrict interstate trade.

13.1.1.3 Four-Year College Prospective Student-Athletes. They all have agents now, so you can’t contact their agent either? Not sure they can stop that!

It's a violation of the Interstate Commerce Act and the Sherman Antitrust Act.

That's why the NCAA can't enforce it.
They have lost every court case and injunction action a out their illegal rules. They and their member institutions are on the hook for billions of $$ in the House case settlement alone. That includes Clemson, BTW.
Does anyone REALLY think that the NCAA is in a hurry to get bent over in court again - trying to enforce another one of their illegal rules?

Let Dabo tamper and see how fast the NCAA files sanctions. To add insult to injury, the ACC will tack on a year.

Where do you get this notion that there is no such thing as tampering? It's tampering if a coach or anyone from another school contacts a player while he's still on the active roster of a team.

A 134 team draft won't work.
Too many teams, in too many locations, no antitrust exemption, military academies couldn't draft players...
It's not going to happen.

There are ways to get around the rules, and ways to avoid being caught. "If you're not cheating, you're not trying." It's not like Clemson never broke any rules before NIL and the portal. Star players have always gotten paid, one way or another.

Absolutely. Remember the Michigan lineman we recruited hard but lost. Dabo got his momma a birthday cake and such. She made it clear someone at Clemson, perhaps just a booster(?), offered them a lot of money. And that was way pre-NIL and a HS recruit. And where did the Florida RB kid (Bellamy I think) that didn’t work out get that huge roll of cash he put up on social media…after committing to us? Maybe that was all unbeknownst to Dabo?…Doubtful, I love Dabo but he came up through the Bama football machine and had to learn how Bama did it. Danny and Charlie were both Bama football machine graduates. They knew how Bama operated and brought that to Clemson. Saban had the Dodge Charger program. It’s sad but you play the game or get left behind both in pre-NIL days and in this NIL day and age it seems. I support Dabo but have my serious doubts he is the perfection of morality many believe. He has gotten progressively more arrogant and stubborn, but having said all that he has been our best coach ever. He has earned some latitude to figure this new landscape out. Let’s face it it is a landscape that is likely to change drastically at some point. I’m glad he cares about players and graduates them. I’m glad he is our coach.

Good point. My opinion is that it doesn’t. Tampering is out of control, and difficult to do anything about.

directly from the schools, which is next year. I say should, but the power brokers of the sport are trying to double down on the "college" football farce and get exemption from that. Even though, again, the players will be receiving payments directly from the Universities for playing football. Not employees? I mean that's just absurd.

The transfers that get a lot of buzz when they transfer were all presented a deal before they were in the portal.

There have been two linemen that Dabo tried to get that went elsewhere. I believe one went to Michigan and the other to Ga Tech. These were players that announced for the portal and did not have an OBVIOUS destination. I have no idea what the specifics were with the two players and why they chose their new schools.
