Corporations.
We know corporations will invest in conferences, as noted in recent articles. And advertising with NIL athletes will continue. It makes sense, like the bowl games.
However, I don’t believe many billionaires are going to be like Phil Knight and T Boone Pickens and spend their lives funding their school. Maybe Larry Ellison while he getting that tang. Does anyone else see in maybe 10 years, if the world hasn’t been “raptured”, that these wealthy individuals will lose interest in paying millions to 18 yr olds? I would think a certain level of boredom would set in. I mean, look at Texas A&M and all of the money they’ve wasted. No titles.
If they all want championships, most will live wanting and that doesn’t seem like a dignified way for a financial king to live. Oregon is still searching and this could be the year, but we’ll see.

It's a business model that shouldn't be sustainable. Plus, I do believe as this progresses, the "Haves" will have put smaller schools sooo far behind that the parity has gone out with the wind. And when I say little schools, I am not talking about the likes Wofford, App St, Citadel, etc, I am talking about the Clemson's, VT's, WV, Kentucky, Coots, Iowa's, Arizona, etc, that can't compete. At some point, either the fans or the schools will revolt (probably both) and some type of legal oversight committee will have to create some system to manage this world of college sports. What that model looks like, I don't have a clue, but when 20 schools or less are dominating the sports because they just buy all the top players from smaller schools, fans and schools will lose interest in investing into a 'No Win' scenario.

The free market and the federal courts.
Trying to force equality is interfering with the free market. That's straight out of the Communist Manifesto.

But every other professional sport had figured it out. Let’s start with the NFL. Don’t hand me all the differences you keep naming. Whatever they are, and whatever laws need to be changed, change them. Fact is, this is now a professional sport. Contracts, salary caps, trading rules, player unions, collective bargaining, drafts, etc. Do you really believe that even the richest schools want this to become ONLY about the highest bidder? Things will normalize, but how far left behind 90% of the current P4/5 schools get left behind depends on how fast changes are made.

The pro sports guys are not student athletes. Every college athlete is.
The Big 4 or leagues have a to trust exemptions. The NCAA does not.
The NFL has 32 teams and a draft. FBS has 134 teams, no draft, and 3 teams that can't participate even if there was one.
The pros have trades against the athletes' will. College doesn't.
College has eligibility limitations. The pros don't.
The pros have unionization, union contracts, and the right to strike. College doesn't.
Colleges can recruit whomever they want. The pros can't.
There are ke differences but that covers the starter kit of apples to oranges, to berries, to watermelons, to pineapples...

All those differences, which are probably correct today, can and should be changed since we are now a professional sport. I'm sure they will find a middle ground, but your arguments are not valid anymore.

That doesn't work.
Change the laws? Not gonna happen. The Interstate Commerce Act has been around since 1887. The Sherman Antitrust Act since 1890. Those laws apply to every facet of Americans business.
Trying to change them to let tail wag the dog is a non starter.
The colleges and the NCAA hate the idea of the athletes becoming employees and unionizing more than they hate what's going on now.
The only way to get even part of what you want is for a Confessional antitrust exemption. Congress has shown no interest in giving them one.
And...if they get one, it won't affect private NIL at all.
Then there's the little problem of somewhere around 30 states that have their own NIL protection laws. The NCAA can't override those just like they can't override federal law.

We saw how some of the schools with the most money aren't at the top. Ohio State, Alabama, TAMU, USC, FSU, Auburn, Michigan...
And...even middling FB programs like Troy made around $33 million last year. Very few schools will give that.

You are obviously not keeping up with what's happening. Short term money has taken over and that will be changed. Just like it has been in every other professional sport around the world. Maybe read bit more reality than past laws?
