Please forgive my ignorance on baseball draft eligibility, but since they can be drafted directly out of high school, why do they have to play 3 years in college to be draft eligible? They can't go into the draft after one or two years? Is it "go out of high school, or go to college and wait three years minimum?"

Same way the NBA draft used to work you can go straight from HS but if you go to college you have to stay 3 years

the draft gets some SO/RFR guys especially the ones parents delayed starting school when they were kids(for athletic, academic reasons, etc). Cam doesn’t turn 21 until September so he has to play college another year.

draft. That makes the decision easy. I love watching Cam play, but at that point, I say lets watch him play in a major league baseball uniform. I think he would have a very short stint in the minors, and be up with whatever "big" club drafts him in a very limited amount of time.
