The travel makes no sense for the student athletes.

Will not surprise me at all to see the Tiger Football team in the very near future have to play a 10:30 PM EST. game at either California in Berkley or at Stanford in Palo Alto.Miami had to do it this season against the Golden Bears.Wonder what coach Brownell and coach Poppie think about playing on a Wednesday/Saturday and Thursday/Sunday respectively at both of the new ACC members on the left coast.

So. Clemson and Wake played a football game in Tokyo Japan in the 80's.

It was against Duke. I was in tigerband and went on that trip Coca Cola paid

Coca Cola paid for most of that trip if I’m correct.

They played Duke in 1991 in Japan (forgot about that one). They played Wake Forest there in 1982.

There is a really neat thing called a hotel and if the trip requires 2 hotel nights, that is what will happen.

They should blame Notre Dame. The part time ACC member with their full vote wanted them in.

Jimmy Phillips should let them go and put their measly share in the new brand fund that will be split.

A 5th grader could have done the math on the negative impact of travel on all of their other sports and the ultimate degradation of their athletics programs leaving behind their geographic rivals. That the leaders of two of America's premier universities couldn't figure that out is pretty sad.

I saw a guy on a political show the other night that was talking about that very subject and how those schools have become so "woke" and out of touch with reality that the lowering of standards for admission, elimination of grades, etc. has produced class after class of graduates with obscure degrees who are basically unemployable in the private sector and can only get government jobs. The man doing the talking was a Stanford professor and he was embarrassed at what liberals had done to his school. He said a college recruiter had told him that they were no longer recruiting Stanford grads and instead going to schools like Mississippi State, Texas A&M, etc. to find qualified people, which is exactly opposite of what they did just a few years ago. After hearing that, it was no surprise to see these dumb decisions coming out of Stanford & Cal administrators.

Have a nephew with a perfect SAT score, Eagle Scout, perfect GPA, played soccer, and was denied. It's brutal to get into Stanford or even Berkeley.

Cal and Stanford undoubtedly have access to some of the brightest minds in the world at their disposal to figure out such things.

Wouldn't it be great if they become needed votes in our favor to disband the conference?

Can you really leave something that no longer exists?

I thought it was a terrible idea from day one for them to join the ACC, but the PAC12 was done. They weren't really leaving, they were looking for a place to land. Oregon State and Washington State were the only ones left.

USC/UCLA and Oregon/Washington going to Big10 was a terrible idea too. Perhaps they are getting more money than Cal and Stanford, but they are incurring the same travel issues. You are basically flying from the west coast to the east coast to get to Rutgers (assume you would fly into Newark and take a bus to New Brunswick). And I imagine getting from LAX, PDX, or SEA to places like State College, Pennsylvania or West Lafayette, Indiana is no small travel feat either.

Never made sense for either party. Both parties were desperate and desperate decisions rarely work out.
