I am not at all savvy about pro basketball men or women. Help me understand what is going on with all of these vicious fouls on CC. Is it indoctrination into the wnba? Seems to me she has upped attendance and viewership and should be thanked for same.

LeBron would have excelled in the 80s/90s era of ball. The dude came into the league 6-8/250 with point guard ball handling and passing skills. As a prospect he was basically a stronger and more athletic version of Magic Johnson.

Lol, you could just say you don't actually understand how much of a genetic freak specimen LeBron is. I get it, you dislike him and probably haven't watched NBA ball in 20+ years, but LeBron's physical capabilities are probably unmatched in NBA history. Laimbeer and Mahorn would have stood no chance at staying in front of him. Rodman was giving up at least 40 (probably closer to 60) pounds in his Pistons days. And zone or mixed zone defenses were completely outlawed in the NBA until the early 2000s. LeBron would have feasted in that era. His first 4/5 seasons were played in the statistically most challenging era to score inside in NBA history and he averaged 27/7/6.5. No one, Bad Boy Pistons included, would have been capable of holding him to 10 a game.

He’d flop every play.. and complain about every non call (which would be a lot in that era) on the offensive end of the floor and forget his team needed 5 on defense… not sure how effective he could be in that scenario, even though as you stated he is an athletic freak.

He'd be conditioned to the way the game was called then. Again, he was an exceptional interior scorer in the statistically most challenging era to play in the paint. And for good measure toss in that his passing would eviscerate teams. He would have excelled in that era.
And implying he's not capable on defense? Prime LeBron was an exceptional defender. Only 13 players since the 1968-69 season have more first team all-defense selections.

From the perspective of the women in the league, I think that they feel as if, despite their hard work, they’re only getting attention from this new girl who everyone is obsessed with. It also doesn’t help that she’s white (they think that’s why she is more popular). I disagree with their sentiments, and definitely with their actions, but that’s at least what I think it is

Simple as this : women generally dislike other women w/success
2

It really is as simple as this. Sad but true, success scares some people and they out act like a petulant child around it.
You have a women's basketball league that loses tons of money year in/year out...now CC comes along and blows up with her Steph Curry like style, and becomes immensely popular. That success is somehow bringing negative attitudes from players in the league that feel they are as good and talented. While this may or may not be true, they are simply jealous of the success and attention she receives.
The league "should" be thankful, but competition breeds contempt if it is in the heart. And there is a lot of unsportmanslike cheap-shots at her expense. She is a trash talker, so she has some of it coming because if you run that mouth you are going to get tested.
At some point this will all settle down, but the league is loving the attention and money coming in for the time being. I have no interest in wimmens bball, but others might and this should help the league continue on for a while.

it would happen if she wasn't white if she came in with all the hype in the world, and having such an enormous cult following. If all the players were racist, wouldn't it happen to some of the existing WNBA greats, Stewart or Ionesco or others in the past history of the WNBA?

and then have that effect how I view this one. Why would I waste time and thought of that? This seems like a somewhat normal situation that happens in sports with a new brash player entering a league and I wanted to understand what people are seeing to make a mountain out of a molehill, just wanted to understand it.
But if most think like you seem to be doing with this, maybe there is nothing happening to truly insinuate racism?

when the others you mentioned entered the league. Things remained pretty much status quo (i.e., poor ticket sales, attendance, and TV viewership).
However, with Catlin Clark's arrival on the scene, there has been a significant renewed interest in the league that has also resulted in an increase in TV viewership, ticket sales, and attendance. I wont even get into the shoe deals, endorsements, and media attention. The existing players are now envious because none of this was occurring on their watch and some have even gone so far to say this is largely because Caitlyn Clark is white. It couldn't possibly be because she is a great player and a solid role model with a high level of character and integrity. In other words, the exact type of person, regardless of race, who league executives would want to be the face of the league.

It will be interesting to follow her career, the boon for viewership in the WNBA has been fun to see. Hopefully it continues.

Wilson saying that part of Clark’s fandom is she’s white? I’m not sure but she seems to have been part of opening eyes of many of my friends - all whom never watched the WNBA and claim they don’t like the nba - to watch college basketball and now watch the WNBA for the first time. I don’t think her race (and size and style - much like Steph, another popular player) has hurt her in bringing all these new eyeballs into women’s college basketball and now the WNBA that’s for sure. Being attractive helps too, as it does with ALL gender famous people.
I’ve seen Wilson say some really complimentary things about Clark and her transition to the WNBA as well.

If the cheap shots she has gotten occurred in other sports leagues, there would be at the minimum some chippyness by teammates and players having to be held back from refs.

Can you envision a scenario in football where a player would allow an opponent to take a free cheap shot at their QB. Such an occurrence would be met with swift retaliation in defense of their QB. CC's teammates did nothing.

It was a foul, but wasn't THAT hard of a foul. She probably would have stumbled but she fell mainly to get attention from the refs.
It's weird that the some complain about their money are trying to knock her out. If CC goes out, then attention will drop back to where it was. CC is the best thing going for the WNBA.

1) More fans watched Clark at Iowa than fans watch the NBA Finals and World Series. 2) Clark should begin martial arts training in the off season. 3) Similar to Charles Oakley and Rick Mahorn protecting Michael Jordan, and goons protecting Wayne Gretzky, Clark's team needs at least two goons to protect her. 4) If fans do not like the jealousy & racism exhibited to Clark, particularly among the most strident players, the solution is to cut off the TV and do not go to the WNBA games. Problem solved.

I don’t watch pro bb men or women’s but I did watch espn take on the thug move put on cc recently. They tried their best to make the thug foul she took as acceptable because she is new to the league and she is paying her dues. Thats asinine. Anyone with a tad of intelligence knows otherwise and the thug should be excused for a few games . The league upgraded it to an intentional which the refs should have done at the time. Jealousy is a terrible thing and that’s part of the problem

Seems like she benefits the entire league. They must be jealous.***

All these fouls? Or the single one that we all saw?

It might just be that an irrelevant player is trying to be relevant with a cheap shot on someone in the spotlight.
That perspective may not fit a lot of people’s narrative, but I think it’s entirely possible to be true.

Do you know about multiple egregious fouls or just the one?

It ain’t that complicated.
She’s white and getting attention the blacks have never been able to capture the last 20 years of the league’s existence. Kind of hard for a lot of people to unsee 2020-2021 and the tall girl who was traded from Russia for a dude who killed actual Americans

there have been white WNBA stars before. Taurasi, Stewart, Della Donne, Plum etc.
It's that plus the crazy college marketability.

I think it may be orchestrated a bit like Saturday “Rassling”. It’s bringing much needed hype.

That wasn't basketball
dirty foul
and player on bench should also been thrown out
no place for it
She also is playing at a different level now
She has been handling it very well
They also need an enforcer and quite frankly none of her teammates did anything
