Saying...is Reed really "The Man" for the job...or did Dabo just not have enough money to hire a Big Name DB coach...or does Dabo know the guy personally...or what?

From the results in recruiting and what was produced on the field it does not appear to be a great hire. 2 STAR recruits are mainly what he landed at NC State. Mind you it is NC State.
We will see.

Agreed. Looking at his creditials and his ability to recruit, this hire is a bit of a head scratcher for me. You can't really lean on "he coached Brian Dawkins", simply because it was at the professional level. Dawk knew how to play the position at that level in college.

Maybe it was due to coaching by Reed.

In my opinion, I think this is a great hire. He definitely has been proven to be a good coach based on his track record. And yes maybe he did only recruit 2 and 3 stars but look at what school he was recruiting for Haha. And look what he did with these 2 and 3 stars. Just imagine what he will do with out recruits. . He has definitely shown his ability to develop players. Also, I trust dabo and our staff in their hirings. Smile guys and give this man a chance! Go Tigers!

Apparently he is a very outgoing, excitable coach. Good personality and good with recruits. Plus, if you look at what he did with what he had at NC State, he must be pretty good. David Amerson led the country in picks last year, and I think NC State had a pretty decent amount of takeaways last year. Then again, we carved them up, and the recruits that he signed at NCSU were not elite prospects (I understand he was recruiting for NCSU not Clemson). It will be interesting to see if he can land any of the DB prospects we have left on our board. Only time will tell if he is a good fit.
But hey it can't get much worse than last year.

all say ignore the numbers because numbers lie and forget about the on-field performance because that doesn't tell the whole story. So if we are throwing out his numbers and his DB's field perfromance, then I guess it was a good hire. Maybe he looks good in an orange assistant coach's shirt.
