So he and anyone else can get their starting jitters out early. I know that there will be some angst going into the Auburn game, but having a solid performance against Kent St will build some confidence. Let's go!

I think Kelly will play with a huge chip on his shoulder this year. Being a local guy and growing up a Clemson fan and dreaming of the day he would be the starting qb, this probably means a lot to him.
I like the way he is approaching this season but you can kind of tell from his demeanor that he's tired of the Deshaun references and is ready to show this is his team and that he can be a dynamic player at the qb position too

With that being a good reason for KB doing the best job he can, and with those same reasons could cause him to be extremely overwhelmed by those dreams!!!

Here is what I think and believe about KB as our starting QB come Saturday @ noon.I think that if when KB inters the the game. KB must keep his nerves under control and not let this game get to be to big for him, and play exactly to his skill set what ever that may be without getting overly excited. If he does that we should be just fine bc he has more than enough talent around him to get the ball in their hands, we can score more than enough points to win any game on our schedule bc of our D. If KB gets rattled playing against a team like Kent state and starts making mental mistakes, we won't see him again the rest of the season at QB bc, we have other very talented QBs that want that job as much as KB. I just don't think that Dabo will blow off our season with KB before he pulls him and put the ball in the other QBs hands to see what they can do. And let who ever compete with Trevor Lawrence in the spring and fall for the starting job. IMO, I actually believe that TL is a D1 starter as a true freshman QB.

Hope he's a gamer. Best thing for Clemson is he kills it and we're set at QB for the year. Hope it goes that way.
We will find out.
This is ultimately why you still line up and play the game.

I agree with this would make a much easier transition for Lawrence coming in and as I think you mentioned earlier it may keep all of the qbs on the roster and not have as many transfers if they think they'll still get another shot to start after KB leaves

The second string would trot out on 1st down and gain 5-8 yards then the first string would come in to finish us off. They were so much deeper it wasn't even funny. I hope we can get the other QBs some reps and give them the chance to win the job. If they don't, fantastic, that means KB is doing his job.

The more I hear him speak the more confident I am in the guy. I've seen him play. He can make the throws.
We're still talking about a guy who tore defenses up in high school and was a 4-star player coming out, and he has shown flashes of being a great QB if he lives up to the potential.
The coaches have put players with far less talent than Kelly in situations where they have to succeed and they do. I think he's going to have a really solid game against Kent and firm up his position heading into the Auburn game.

Kelly was rated higher than Lamar Jackson. Doesn't mean much but he isn't some walkon we picked up like some people are portraying him

Kent State is just a confidence builder. He needs to have a very solid performance against Kent State. If he does, he will feel confident heading into Auburn. So will his teammates, coaches and fans. Big game this weekend

I want to see the Tigers play with some 'tude this weekend. Kick it up and kick the stuffing out of the Golden Flash in The Pans. Even saying this is really over hyping Kent State. I don't know if they ever flashed anything.
