Bresee has arguably been our 4th best DT this year

Does he deserve a pass? Absolutely! However, for the DL, the Defense, and this team as a whole to get to where it wants to go and have a chance to beat some of these pass happy Offenses potentially in the playoffs, he's got to get back to being our 1st or 2nd best. T. Davis has by far been our best guy and Ruke has been #2. Page to me has been our 3rd most disruptive guy and has truly made the most of his opportunities.
KJ an Tyler have played great this year, but Bresee and M. Murphy are the two guys that can truly unlock this DL's potential if they play up to their standard. To be honest I'm not sure Bresee has it in him this year with all his challenges, but if he can somehow regain his form after the bye week, we'll have a great shot at really making a run for that Natty.

Your observation is confirmed by the PFF grades, with the one exception of Murphy. Murphay, Davis, and Henry all have PFF grades over 80 with Henry topping the group.

If only he could figure out a way to keep two hands from grabbing his jersey or pads each play...

Instead of a TD, I’ll simply say this is a crappy post.

To this I give 100 thumps up. It is hard losing a family member, I mean they were tight. I just glad he came back and sticking to it.

In any really good defense, the front 3 or 4 do their job to allow the linebackers to finish the job. Stats show that our linebackers have 4 of the top 5 number of tackles on the team. Our defense is healthy and ready to play their best game of the season Saturday night.

He's also been the #1 focal point of all offenses to double team, hold, grab and whatever else they need to do. He's allowed others to be freed up. Not to mention with everything he's had to deal with, his mind, body, and soul will get back to where it needs to be. Missing those weeks was a big deal. I expect to see that hunger and attack mode in the D starting this weekend. All hands on deck and 2 weeks to get back to football ready.

That's how I take his performance (when healthy)...he is absorbing the double teams which allows everyone else to run free

Double teamed and many times triple teamed. His numbers are not up there but just watch the film. there's a reason the so-called experts have him still in the top 15 draft wise. they see the film and realize he can't do much being double and triple teamed continuously.

The pocket has to be set from the middle out. If Bresee beats a one on one blocker up the middle, Henry will be late to the party everytime.
Henry has made OLs pay for Dbl teaming elsewhere and that is as it should be.
I like the original post because Bresee has wreaked havoc at times but has not closed the plays down at times when he was in position. Closing down plays he is in position to will drastically alter opposing offenses.
I think its just a few little things nothing big. He lost some stamina through his family situation and that makes technique suffer. He was starting to look like his normal self against Syracuse on a couple of plays after taking a breather so I think the bye week and conditioning that goes with it will be a huge benefit to his technique.

None of us knows whether the knee surgery he had a little over a year ago has any impact or not. IMO, it would take a little longer for a 300+ lb D Lineman making contact with 300+ lb O Lineman every play to get back to 100% strength and speed. Bresee will be fine and hope he decides he wants to complete a Masters Degree at Clemson.

Defense Line has not lived up to the hype to the same degree as QB last season.
They don't get passes. They are suppose to be championship caliber. Best is the Standard. These guys don't look like the best.

They’d better be ready and step up against ND. Stop the run and cover their TE will stop the Irish. No turnovers on offense and playing for 4 quarters seals the win. No excuses.

Group as a whole has not been what I expected .
Xavier has been injured and we all undersatand Bresee’s situation (if I was in his shoes not real sure how focused on football I would be.)
Thing is all of them have game changing potential.

They are really kind of like the team as a whole. They have just not put together a complete game yet. They certainly have had their moments, but also some that were a little lacking, like giving up over 200 rushing yards several games ago. I had expected them to be a little more dominant, but as others have mentioned there have been a number of factors that have caused it. I think this is the first week where just about everyone is pretty healthy, so I expect them to step it up a notch.

I will not single out any one player but will say the defense has underperformed so far this year from the lofty expectations. I have been hoping with each game they will turn the corner.

This team has the talent on defense to dominate. Maybe this will be the week. The offense can get better but there's a ceiling.

Things outside football definitely and understably so effected him. I'm impressed he's kept it together the young man is a warrior no questioning that. He's going to be a steal in the draft bc he will be back to form next year be it the pros or at Clemson.
