Listening to Dillon Gabriel, that doesn’t really seem to be what happened. DG had a great year last year and got a terrible draft grade. His OC left and that was part of the reason he went to OU, he had history with Lebby. He saw that Jackson was in a good spot to take over, and he wanted to go to Oregon if he was going to need to learn a new O anyways. That way, he would have film in a different system and hopefully improve his draft grade. So it seems to be more of a decision by DG than him being pushed out.

You are probably correct. If you realize your draft grade isn’t great, better get paid now.

That makes sense, though perhaps a greater effort to keep him and allow

Arnold another year of development. Unfortunately for Oklahoma, Arnold may need another year as an understudy given what he has shown so far, but it wouldn't surprise me if he transfers out as well.

Arnold could've bolted to MSU with Lebby if Gabriel stayed. Can't blame BV for wanting to keep his 5* QB with multiple years to play.

I thought the freshman played better than Gabriel. He actually gave them a chance to tie late. Couldn’t quite convert the two point conversions though. DG was a turnover machine whereas the freshman took care of the ball and put it in the endzone.

We don’t get to see behind the curtains as to the reasons some things happen. Maybe his work ethic wasn’t good. Maybe his attitude sucked, or maybe he was a poison teammate. Those t things, we don’t get to see.

DG plays for Oregon now. Jackson Arnold was the starter for Oklahoma who got benched for the freshman.

Probably not. I imagine the Oregon QB job pays a certain amount and guys are lining up to play in Lannings system to get pro prep. It’s basically an internship. With Lebby gone DG was looking to enhance his resume. Probably had to beat out a few other mercenaries that wanted to go to Oregon.

Good point.

Oregon's NIL and corporate sponsorship probably sets that amount high, though.
