that was by design. I think we pulled the plug to an extent,and then the two blocked field goals tightened things up. Clearly after the long Mafah run, it was run it, run it, run it and kick it. And I told Spud Jr....We are not gonna run anything to the right side of the line..and we didn't...So, how hard was it for FSU to stop us when we were only going to the left AND WE WERE NOT GOING TO THROW IT...
I guarantee you Dabo was thinking about last year when we were up 11 about to go up by 18 and we had the SACK SIX....so, I am happy with the win in Tallahassee.....

We punted only twice in the entire game (first possession of each half) and had no turnovers. This was not last years offense.

on third down in the red zone. We played it very safe. Very safe. And I am fine with that. Like I said, I would much rather have a blocked field goal, than a Sack Six. If we would have had a blocked field goal instead of a Sack Six last year...we beat FSU in The Valley...

It was definitely a "run out the clock and don't turn over the ball" kind of quarter. We got exposed, a bit, in a couple areas. Our O.Line has made huge strides in the run game. Mafah was a beast. Why not plug and play him.....

were blocked...we would have taken a few more risks in the red zone...and put 40 on the board....I don't think we threw the ball more than three or four yards down field after we got that lead....Especially on third down. Every one was short, hope the receiver can run for it..and if not...punt it or kick it. In my opinion it was smart coaching. Get the W and get out.

I think going conservative and grinding out the clock once we were up three scores made sense with a young QB on the road and the running game actually looking pretty good. Nothing wrong with a ball control, run based offense as long as it's effective and it definitely was last night other than for the blocked kicks and getting bogged down a bit in the red zone.

And get Mafah a lot of carries. Second half was basically a scrimmage to work on the running game.

Well, I’m happy with the win, but I don’t like us taking our foot off the gas until the last quarter when the game is in hand which happens way too often. It’s not just the score, but it’s about how dominant a team is in the win. No style points last night after the 1st quarter doesn’t give the selection committee much reason to say we really are a special team that belongs. JMO

I think the only difference is we purposely went conservative this year, whereas last year we didnt have the option to be anything but conservative.

I agree. We will clean up the field goal blocking problem this week. We ran the ball very effectively which bodes well for the future. And all we needed was field goals to keep the game out of reach.
