How can we get Boyd and Nuke to stay another year?

Thinking about what talent there is now and what should be coming in for next year... what are the chances Boyd and Nuke stay one more year. We will be a ligit National Champion contender next season.

this year really sets up well for Nuke to leave. Even if he came back in 2013, I don't see how he has a better season. I think if hes a mid 2nd rounder or better, he should go....for him. Also, the combine will go along ways for him. I think most scouts know hes got the best hands in the country. But if he could real off a low 4.5 40 in the combine. His stock should really sky rocket...anyways, just my 2 cents.

90% sure he's back. However, I'm not sure about the QB's for this years draft. Wasn't last years a little QB heavy? If it were like that, Boyd comes back. If not many out there, Boyd could test it.
Nuk is gone. Having an outstanding season. Watkins should/will be better than his freshman season next year. We have some WR's. I'd hate to lose him, but it wouldn't kill us.

Nuk could, but I'm sure his goal is to be a first rounder, so we'll see if he'd make that at the end of the year.
Just depends on how well this season goes

I think Nuk leaves if he's projected as a 1st rounder (who wouldn't),but otherwise he will stay.
Remember that this guy is from Central and grew up a big clemson fan. He knows how special next year can possibly be and he will want to be a part of that.

absense this season - they won't be as high next year with Sammy playing every game. He might strike while iron's hot. Plus, Sammy might leave after next season - so he won't want to get pushed down the draft a bit by Sammy.
Or maybe I'm thinking about this too much

Boyd is only 6'1 so he won't be a high draft pick

so I see him coming back. Nuk won't run well at the combine, but think he is still a late 2nd round, 3rd round pick.

My questionable logic
Oct 4, 2012, 1:37 PM
|
|
While it is better for next year to keep them both, it is better for program to have Nuk leave this year. Losing Sammy and Nuk in same year would leave us with a major playmaking hole to fill on the outside while trying to break in a new QB in 2014. Regardless of how good Peake or Bryant are they will have never been THE guy. Could mean title contender next year if Tajh and Nuk stay but program could be more stable if only 1 or 2 a year have to be replaced instead of 3 or more.
I still hope they stay!!!
I have heard this year's receiver class is really strong which may keep Nuk here but in my opinion he is gone. Our players always seem to get projected higher than they are taken and it causes some to leave early when they shouldn't. Hope he gets good advice!!!

This is tough situation either way. If Hopkins returns, we will probably lose North to Tennessee. If Hopkins leaves for the NFL, there is a good chance that we are able to land North. North is dynamic. I guess the question boils down to, Do we want North for three years or Hopkins for one more year? North is more of a"down the field" guy compared to Hopkins, but he is needed big time.

While I understand your logic about avoiding the total rebuild of our WR corps, I think it's tough to make it stick. We've got so much talent, and with a slightly more solid defense we are definitely title contenders. We don't know when we'll get this type of talent again. I'd much rather be in the national title hunt next year and have to reboot the offense with Bryant, Peake, and the others rather than just "prep" for the future.
Also take this into account when it comes to rebuilding: we'll be losing Ellington at the end of this year. We're going to need all the help we can get on the outside next year.

CJ stayed around, did it hurt his draft status. How many players can say they played on a National Championship team. Think of how good the O will be with both of them back and if we get the last few recruits we want. Tigertown would be NUTS
