I always hate to lose a recruit but this was one that I was starting to have some doubts about. As other have mentioned, he did not show well in some of the summer camps and his accuracy was becoming more of a question mark.
Last week someone asked how he was doing, and I pulled up his stats to find that through 4 games, he had thrown 5 TDs and 4 INTs at a 57% completion rate. And this is against prep schools in Connecticut, and not even against the best competition in CT, which isn't all that well thought of to begin with.
It sucks that we essentially didn't sign a QB in the '24 or '25 classes. That was poor planning on our part and we should never have agreed to only take one QB in the '25 cycle as a contingency to get him to sign with us.
I'm sure we will be just fine and will look forward to facing him down the road...

Never understood why we put all our eggs in his basket, but I’m not sure we even have a backup plan in place. 2025 recruiting class is looking pretty bad. Not sure what’s going on.

Clemson will find a QB that FITS them. I urge the Tigers to find a QB that can hurt you with his ability to throw and run. A two dimensional guy, similar to what Klubnik has become.That's the culture of QBs in
football now, in Pro and College.

We redshirted CV so he's basically our 24 QB. Its not like we didn't recruit the top guys in these classes, we just cant or won't pay what it takes to get a top HS 10 QB these days. Hopefully if our offense continues to shine that'll help offset some of that.

QB is tough to recruit and project. If you have a stud QB your not going to keep the other QB'S on your roster. Really good QB recruits aren't going to come and sit. CV could leave if CK decides to come back next year. Let's hope not but it's tough on a coaching staff to manage. If Clemson got into a jam they would definitely use the portal.

Not really true.
Oregon has a top 3 recruit in Dante Moore behind Gabriel. Austin Novosad was an elite recruit too.
Arch Manning chose to sit behind Ewers.
Ty Simpson never really panned out like the Clemson coaches thought he would, but he's still there behind Milroe.
There are other examples. It's rare, but players will sit with NIL and championship prospects.

If the Irish want him, he won’t mature to be a better player as much as with the Clemson Staff.
Probably a better option out there very happy to be getting a call from the Tigers.

I was surprised when he was first offered and shortly committed sometime after. I thought of all the uncommitted QBs, why him? At the same time, the staff knows more than I do.

Those were his junior year stats when he missed most of the season with a broken ankle.
His numbers are way better this year. He posted midseason highlights on X last week. I believe he has 17 TDs and 2 INTs.

There was a reason he decommitted
I personally would say that it’s obvious we gave him that option to say he was not coming to Clemson. But in reality it was the other way round.
Also, maybe we have an inside track on Jared Curtis.
