He wants to play for a coach that won’t take him his bat out the lineup in the biggest game of the #### season. Just a thought. Not only did Bakić royally screwed up the game against Tennessee with bad managing the whole game he over thought and over coached in the Charlotte game as well.. Now we are losing good players like this is our basketball program…. This speeds up the process in my opinion for coach Bakich having to win a regional.

This will only make our coach more determined to win at Clemson! He proved he could bring these guys together with a ACC Championship.
Even though we didn’t finish like we wanted to finish this team over achieved!

Overachieved in the regular season and ACC tourney, choked in the regionals, now losing all Americans to transfer. This doesn’t help

Tenn is playing good ball right now
We went 14 innings against 2 possible first round pitchers for Tenn.
No one was surprised when we came out flat against Charlotte after that game

If anyone choked it was the players. They have to produce.

We needed one fly ball with the bases loaded and no outs to end it in our favor.
We needed one strike to end it in our favor.
We produced neither.
Hindsight on coaching decisions is just that … hindsight.
The coaches didn’t fail to produce in key situations where the game was there for the taking.

Could be some of Coach Leggett affect in tournament games. Everything about that game against Tn was a screw up. Even half the Clemson fans had jet lag the next day.

and I highly doubt this scenerio
but, maybe that game has something to do with it IF Grice possibly returning.
Hear me out, no doubt he will go MLB, but scouts still have a question on what he is. Possibly a return with more innings pitching under his belt may improve his stock. If so, Amick may be anticipating sitting innings at least 1 of 3 games a weekend if the same strategy used when Grice comes off mound

Before mid-season, the TNet consensus was that Grice should be benched. Now the debate is whether he’ll stay for his senior year or go pro.
He could be disappointed in his draft position and see another season as a good choice.
Meanwhile, Amick slipped into the line-up like Lou Gehrig when Wally Pipp got injured and he went on a tear at the plate.
But only position appears to be 1st base, so with Grice back, his PT is once again limited.
It’s not that hard to see the scenario you mention being real.

Whatever I don’t care if the kid does armpit farts as he walks around Clemson’s campus, he played the game in a mature way, and was very mature at the plate, hitting any kind of pitch to any part of the field and with power. Huge loss

I had to let a kid walk on my team this summer. Best of luck and released him. He is doing fine. Just didn’t meet standards. Sorry nature of game for some. But at least I don’t have to deal with money.

He might be thinking, but alas, you are not, or are unable. Bakich is the reason we even hosted Tennessee in a regional. He coached his ### off all season. Did he make a couple of mistakes in the Tennessee game? Yes. Should we have still won? Absolutely. I, for one. Am ecstatic that Bakich is our coach for many years to come.

Really??? So he should’ve put the team leader and one of the best hitters in college baseball (Grice) on the bench instead of Amick? Come on.

No, he should’ve left Caden at DH and left Amick at first base so both of their bats would’ve been in the lineup genius. Or he could’ve put Caden in RF and Cooper behind the plate taking Jarrell out of the game

You have to choose whether to use a DH before the game. The DH can only hit for the P. Therefore, since Grice was pitching, Clemson had elected to not have a DH to keep his bat in the lineup. When Grice came off the mound, there were only a few choices:
1) Lose his on field presence in a huge spot and leave the rest of the lineup untouched.
2) Do the double switch for a position he can play (and is best at) to keep him on the field - which is what Coach Bakich did.
3) Move other people around.
But remember, when Grice came off the mound Clemson was leading with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. You want your BEST DEFENSE on the field.
Grice is a better 1B than Amick. Period. Ingle was playing well in RF. And Jarrell is a very good (young, but good) defensive catcher.
Hindsight is 20/20, but based on the situation at the time, Coach made the correct move. Only when Clemson’s pitcher missed on a 2 out, 2 strike pitch did it even become a question.
It was the right move to put Amick on the bench and keep Grice on the field in that moment. If that hurt Amick’s feelings enough for him to take his proverbial ball and leave, than he is an entitled young man who doesn’t need to be around Clemson Baseball.

Go look back at the lineup genius. Grice was the pitcher and the DH so when he came off the mound he would’ve been DH still. That’s how it works. Get a clue

Maybe you should go where ever Amick goes. Clemson doesn’t need such unpleasant people being “fans”.
I am correct and trying to have a rational discussion, but you can’t control your emotions enough to have a conversation. What a joy I bet you are to be around…

My emotions are just fine, but you’re coming at me like I don’t know the rules of baseball and from what I can see from what you are saying you don’t know the rules of baseball. A player can start the game as a pitcher and the DH for himself. That way when he comes off the mound, he can stay in the game as the DH

I was just arguing matters of point… if you took offense to that, then that’s a you problem.
Setting aside the DH argument which we are stuck on because ultimately that doesn’t even matter.
Why? Because Caden Grice is still a better 1B than Amick and you want your best defense on the field with the lead and 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. Ergo, Amick out, Grice in. Coach Bakich made the right call based on the situation at the time.
