BIG BEAR VALLEY WED NEST UPDATE

The first was laid yesterday at 5:05 pm. Jackie has stayed on nest since. The pair usually do not concentrate on hatching eggs until the cluth is laid usually 1-3 eggs for Jackie and shadow. The eagles do this so that all eggs hatch about the same time so the first hatched does not root the others out of nest or gobble all the food.
Jackie will now not leave the eggs unattended. If she leaves nest, Shadow will be there.
You may want to start checking nest several times a day and remember Jackie will be on nest eggs all night.

Thanks for update. I have been too busy until now to get on internet. That is part of delayed incubation until full clutch is laid. The nest bowl has too many sticks in it and no fluff. I don't like that. Because of that, They are having a difficult time moving around in nest w/o stepping on egg. Not sure why they have not fluffed the nest. Both eagles do not go far away from the nest. The snag tree and roosting tree is close by and is within view of nest. You can see those trees on Cam #2. Jackie stayed on nest all last night.
We may worry too much and get too humanly involved in what Nature is doing.

That’s awesome!!! I’ve been watching Shadow and Jackie for the last couple of weeks. Hopefully everything goes well this year.
I’ve also been watching Clive and Connie with their 2 chicks which hatched about 4 weeks ago.
Very exciting times.
