My Holland burnt in a shop fire. Have to replace. I know this isn’t a typical board question but looking for suggestions.

Green Egg, Primo, etc. Lump coal is the way to go. 👍

I’m partial to Weber Grills/smoker. Not a fan of anything pellet. Don’t feel you get as good of a smoke. But mostly I like to tinker and babysit my smoke. Gives me a reason to spend the day outside enjoying my time while cooking.

I had a Primo and loved it. Movers broke it and I got a Rec tec. It’s a great grill, practically a EX Bake oven. Wife can use it as well, something that wasn’t happening with the Primo. It cooks very good. With that being said I miss my ceramic grill and lump charcoal. I will probably get another Kamoda Joe/BGE/Primo. They are all basically interchangeable for what I have seen.

But checkout Masterbuilt. They have gravity fed charcoal grill. I consider it best of both worlds

Rec Tec, made in Augusta GA, best pellet smoker on the market, trust me, and not even close. If you do a comparison, you’ll see the difference.

I have a Rec Tec and love it but hate to tell you this, it's made in China not Augusta. Home office is in Augusta.

This^^^^. Did the wood cook for a bit but I had a family and things to tend to.
I have a simple Camp Chef pellet smoker and my meat turns out wonderful.
The app to control temp is amazing. I go work out / control the temp. A concert / control the temp etc etc.
By the way - if you have never smoked scallops you are missing out!

Camp Chef 💯. They have tech that no other pellet smoker has. And you can use charcoal pellets if you want.

I'm not going out in the cold to see the name on my grill but, it's a cast iron grill with a cast iron door in front with a handle to turn that will lift the coals up or down. It's IMO the best grill I've ever used and it's over 10 years old and I purchased it from Lowe's...

I've never met someone with a Recteq smoker that didn't think it was the best overall pellet smoker built.
But the selling point for Recteq is the customer service. The CEO himself gives you his personal cell phone number and business card with every grill order.
I ordered a Recteq "bull" in 2020 and this is by far the best grill I've ever had. It's been 5 years and it's like this thing is brand new. I've had to call customer service once about my probes going out around a year after receiving the grill and before I could even finish telling them the issue, they already had two new probes on the way for free. Amazing customer service!

I own a Recteq 590 which has been replaced by the Deck Boss. For the money Recteq is the best pellet cooker you can buy. Someone mentioned versatility it truly is. I have used mine for smoking and baking.
I have hot smoked salmon at 180, smoked ribs both beef and pork. Smoked brisket, butts, hams and chicken. You can crank it up to 500 or so for a nice bark to finish them off if you if you please.
I have used it to bake turkeys in a browning bag, baked dressing, baked macaroni pie and potatoes. I have not used it to bake a cake yet. So you see it can be used for just about anything. I still use my Weber for steaks and burgers.

I have an old New Braunfels offset smoker that I found on Craiglist years ago and redid. That thing is solid, I don't think they make them anymore. It's more work than a pellet smoker but it does a great job.

Big Green egg is the best if you like to smoke meat and have the time. I’ve had one for several and love it. By far best smoker out there. Recteq is the best pellet grill. Great for quick cooks during the week. I use mine 3-4 times a week after work. As others have stated great customer service. Follow them on Facebook or inteafe and wait for their scratch and dent sale to get some good deals

I got a Pitt Boss on sale from Walmart that ended up getting damaged, pulled the dents out and ended up spending 150 bucks. I have an acorn that I like but the Pitt boss is so easy, if you keep it clean it does great. Not sure on the higher end pellet grills but I just don’t see them being that much better.
