Bastogne
I was in Belgium this past October between Bastogne and Malmedy, home of a massacre of American troops. A lovely area to visit and easy to navigate as well. Great food and hospitality.

Days of Days will forever be my favorite. The shot of Winters looking out of the plane at the invasion fleet gets me every time.

Episode 9 where they liberate the camp was incredibly moving, but then to follow it up with the 10th episode... drinking Hitler's booze at Berchtesgaden was great.

It's an absolutely brutal depiction of the Battle of the Bulge.

Favorite part of that episode is when Winters was told the line was so thin and one of their flanks was cut off that they were going to be surrounded. Winters replied, "We're paratroopers.... We're supposed to be surrounded".

My favorite scene is in the Replacements when they ask the new guy why he was wearing the unit ribbon when he wasn't there for D-Day. Unit citations are worn by anybody in the unit for the history of the unit. So if I joined the 101st, I would wear the unit citations the 101st was awarded in the history of the unit. If you were in the unit when the unit citation is awarded, you can wear it for the rest of your time in the Army, even if you leave the unit. Unit citations are worn above the right pocket on the uniform.
So the new guy was right in wearing the ribbon, but I like the older, salty NCOs telling him to take it off.
Close second was when Winters had enough of Sobel's BS and signed the letter requesting court marshall instead of taking BS punishment. Officers like Sobel exist in the military, and they get promoted by pushing others down instead of lifting them up. Happens in the civilian sector too unfortunately.
Third then is the NCOs risking everything going to the Batallion commander resigning their NCO status saying they don't want to go to battle with Sobel. I had to one time do something similiar in Afghanistan with a new E8 that came to my unit. He was going to get people killed so we went to the SGM and got rid of him. Scariest moment of my military career doing that.... but it worked out.

Difficult to pick just one. My wife's favorite line (to me), "Are you watching that again?" Bastogne. Donny Wahlburg nails it as Lipton. Especially towards the end when He and Spiers have that dialog about leadership.

Bastogne. I am amazed at the strength and resilience of those men. Don't see how anyone survived that battle.

The first episode taught me that David Schwimmer can not only annoy me to death on "Friends," but also #### me off in "Band of Brothers." It was at that moment I had to confess that Schwimmer was a good actor.

All are great. Favorite scene for me was "Captain Sobol....Captain Sobol, we salute the rank, not the man".
I've used this in leadership training sessions in the past. While some see this as putting Sobol in his place, the real genius is the humility of Winters, while correcting a junior officer.
That one phrase actually validates Sobol's feelings, while coaching him on the right thing to do. You can also infer from "WE salute" that Winters occasionally has that exact same feeling when saluting some superior officers. Brilliant writing.

when they run the operation where they take out the two machine-gun nests. as I recall, it's still considered a classic small-unit exercise and I think the lieutenant picked up a silver star for it. It's been 20 years since the series, so my memory of all this is a bit hazy.

take the Beaches of Normandy tour. I took the 7-day guided tour last year and was amazed by it. During the tour I stood in the observation bunker and looked through the slit through which the German observer saw the invasion fleet and reported it up the line. They told him it was impossible for the Allies to have that many ships ready to attack and he said "Come here and tell me what I'm looking at, then!".
The tour takes you through all of the gun pill boxes and ammo stores along all of the beaches, through churches where Germans machine-gunned wounded, through many burial sites (included the US Normandy cemetery at flag-lowering accompianied by Taps) and through many, many museums that display American and German equipment along with extremely lifelike wax soldiers in very lifelike scenes.
The last day of the tour was spen visiting Mont Saint-Michel, an unbelievable place.
It was an incredible tour with an unbelievable young lady from Budapest as our guide. She was very qualified with a history degree with special studies in WW2.

Can I nominate an episode from The Pacific? I think it's the one about Okinawa where Rami Malek loses his ####. I can't imagine going through what those men went through.
