The Shane Beamer experiment at USClight is a mischaracterization of the term “Beamer Ball”. That term was contrived to describe Frank Beamer’s style of special teams play at VT which was very uniquely characterized by his usage of his best players on special teams assignments. Just about every game, you could count on a blocked kick, blocked field goal or a kick returned to the house. That’s what made VT’s special teams “special” and warranted the moniker.
Absolutely no one else since Frank Beamer ( including his son ) has followed suit. But what would any South Carolina fan know of Beamer Ball ? They’ve merely heard the term but have no idea what it actually refers to. When Beamer Ball was going on they weren’t paying attention to ACC football. They don’t know names like Eddie Royal, Corey Moore, Darryl Tapp, Deangelo Hall or Macho Harris. They were consumed with claiming moral victories after hanging with Georgia and Tennessee into the second half.
