Basketball in the ACC

See folks ! Miami only beat us by 4 at our place. This is just BASKETBALL !! It's the nature of the game. It says nothing really about Miami, UNC or Clemson. Basketball is much less prdictable than football which is what a lot of folks on this board seem NOT to UNDERSTAND !! ANYTHING can happen on ANY given night. Loosen up a bit and try to enjoy it. We are a decent team with a chance of beating anyone but also achance or losing to anyone and a new coach is not going to change that.

Georgetown basketball was a non-entity before John Thompson. Where was Baylor before Drew came along? UCLA before Wooden? Florida before Donovan? UConn before Calhoun? Every successful team had a coach to get them initially to prominence. Some have seen those legacies built upon, others have seen them whither away. But to say it cannot happen is gibberish

Are we a decent team or more likely a mediocre team? This is the problem with our basketball program, the standard for Clemson is excellence not average or decent! Were we satisfied with Tommy Bowden in football? No! Why should we be satisfied with the last ten years of SSDY in basketball?

Actually 8 plus wins and a top 20 finish year in and year out is a resonable expectation in FB as well, Delusional are the fans that think we will be in the playoffs ( even with the 12 game playoff) every year. It just AIN'T gonna happen.

Closer hat home. Thats pretty normal. But we are the 80th best team in the nation. That isn't what we needed in Brown-Ls "show us everything you got" season.

Have you ever noticed that the better players a team has the better the coach is! Maybe we need to figure out a way to get a few five star basketballers! You know what I mean$

Maybe a new coach won’t change us into national champions - but it would put oxygen back into the room. It would bring energy and optimism back into the program. It certainly should put personality and enthusiasm into the team. It will probably bring a better inside outside balance played by big boy basketball teams and not the mid major way of having undersized players and chunking up 3s and having 5-8 minute scoring droughts. It can also run plays to get our best player more than 2 shots in a critical game. It can also drive excitement from students and fan base - along with recruiting.
Maybe we don’t win it all. But doing nothing is accepting that we never will. I say try.
