Some good news and some potentially bad news. Let's start with the bad.... SS Andrew Ciufo will have a test later this week and the team will release a status on that. However, head Erik Bakich shook his head and indicated it doesn't look good. My guess is they expect it to be season ending.

Good news..... SP Tristan Smith threw a bullpen last Friday and will be a part of the weekend rotation. Bakich wouldn't indicate which day, but it will be Smith, Darden, and Knaak.

Darden should be Friday, Smith Saturday, Knaak Sunday

Knaak should not be moved whatsoever

100% agree. Don't mess with what's working. I was listening to coach pre-game and he indicated as much in regards to ciafo. But, aside from his bat, like coach said, shortstop is our deepest position so that's encouraging. Hindi had a rough day Saturday but he and purify made some outstanding plays today.

Was stoked to hear coach say Smith was throwing pen. Hopefully we won't need a long outing for Pitt.

Purify’a best quality is his defense. Not his hitting. Even though he’s done well overall hitting this year.

Making him DH would defeat the purpose of why he is really in the lineup. To be out there on defense. He’s the 8th hitter.


They struggled to find a second baseman early, and Purify made good plays and was hitting well.


It’s not a usual thing for middle infielders to be DH. They are best at defense.
