The Top 10 Dumbest Things I've Ever Read Here
Aug 12, 2015, 5:28 PM
|
|
I started thinking about the crazy stuff I've seen people post on here over the years, so I thought I'd come up with my own. Names are withheld to protect the guilty (or because I don't remember who said it), and they are in no particular order. These are items people posted and actually meant it.
1. Milk is bad for you.
2. The Democrats will never win another presidency or Congress (following 2004 presidential election).
3. The U.S. should put landmines all across the Mexican border to solve immigration problem.
4. People should be prosecuted for wearing American flag clothing because it is against the law.
5. If you disagree with the president or his wars, you should be charged with sedition.
6. Saddam MUST have had something to do with 9/11. How could he not?
7. Islam should be illegal in America.
8. Homosexual = pedophile
9. Fox News has no political bias.
10. Change the Constitution to support a third term for George W. Bush.
Jump in here and post your own. And I think I've made a lot of dumb predictions on the Main Board over the years.
A lot of those are from ten years ago when America was a lot nuttier.

Was the comment about Strom Thurmond after his death in 2003. Poster was thrilled with his passing.

Changing the subject. The two posters I miss the most are Happycat and Pig guru.

about P-51's that were the B-29's escorts in Korea. First he told me that B-29's didn't fly in Korea, then he said that P-51's didn't either, and typical fashion berated me for saying it.
I guess my dad must have lied and falsified his crew photos, nuke training handbooks, and the wound on his leg, because he was shot in a B-29 by a Mig-15 flying over Korea, after the P-51's had to break off support.

Not really. I did post a picture of a lovely young lady wearing a flag bikini (back when we could do such things) and suggested that the US Flag Code required her to take it off and surrender to house arrest. Preferably my house.

So with the landmines across the border plan, would Trump be allowed to continue speaking if that were implemented or no?

"Sorry dude, it's highly likely that I'm much stronger than you. Not claiming I'm the strongest person or a bad ####, but I am much stronger than the average American male. I was skinny as a youth, and when I see people from my youth that haven't seen me in years they are surprised by how much muscle I have added over the years. So highly unlikely you could do anything to me if challenged me. Most likely I would just shove you to the ground and tell you take your loss like a man without even punching you."

My favorite was when he once said I had a "boot on the neck of the black man" and how racist I was by begrudging Obama the 3 night inauguration party with Beyonce and Jay-Z. (I had that post saved for years just to go back and laugh at). Later he would go onto to say something exceedingly racist about the blacks he picked tobacco with as a child, and never even realized what he said.
My other remembrances of those conversations were when he would state how good he was at "saving businesses", but yet he was complaining of staying in craphole hotels in Spartanburg...selling forklift parts.
Ahh fun times.

I can actually understand number 3-If we declare it a threat
Aug 13, 2015, 1:54 PM

to national security to have undocumented people cross our border, then why shouldn't we be able to use force to enforce that?
If someone breaks into my house, I'm probably going to shoot them. I don't understand why countries can't enforce their own borders with all defensive means necessary.
We justify offensive drone strikes in other countries to kill "known terrorists" knowing full well that civilian casualties are likely... but we can't threaten to to use economical force to defend our borders?
I think it's less absurd than many people make it out to be.

Actually, the biggest problem with that idea
Aug 13, 2015, 2:07 PM

Was the cost (I remember we broke it down years ago). It's actually cheaper to build a wall across the border than arbitrarily spread thousands upon thousands of land mines across it.
But then there's just the humanity angle...

bad.
I was thinking of using a mix of walls, towers, real and fake minefields, sparse patrols and barbed wire.
That would be really expensive, but the benefits could eventually offset it, depending on when and where you are talking about. (For instance if Syria was south of us.)
And I don't see such a drastic thing as appropriate yet... but looking at what's going on in Europe these days is speaks very loudly to me.
Just to be clear, I am not advocating this... but I can entertain such thinking as less than completely stupid.
