If have always hated the poll ranking system to determine where teams fall, best to worst.
Clemson loses to Georgia falls10 spots in the polling. Alabama loses to an unranked teams and falls 4 spots. It is so subjective as to the voter's biases that win loss record and who you lost to or who you beat is almost irrelevant.
Iowa State at #9? Did they not see who the teams has played

The only argument for Clemson being even as high as we are

right now is 100% eye test. The five teams we've beaten have a combined record of 10-21, and none of them are even .500 overall. We played one very good team and got smoked. Sure we seem to be a better team now then we were then, but that's subjective. Objectively, we lost to that team 34-3 and we likely haven't played a team that's even going to make a bowl game since.
Eye test says we're a good team right now, and we are also rising in the advanced metrics, but our resume is still trash and some voters are going to weight that more heavily than others.

Georgia’s resume:
They beat us the first game of the season, this is an anomaly. If we played again right now Clemson would win.
Tenn Tech
Kentucky
Lost to Alabama should have been a blow out but Alabama relaxed too soon
Auburn
Miss St.
Not a great resume and failing the eye test

There should not be a poll until the 5th week of the season. This would eliminate preseason bias.

I agree to some degree. Our biggest tests come up after Virginia providing that those teams remain ranked. Still Virginia is the only team that matters right now. On to Virginia.....

There is no Poll until Nov 5th. Do they even keep coming out with the weekly

AP and Coaches polls after Nov 5th? If so, then why? MY Top 25 is literally as relevant as the AP Poll after Nov 5th

The polls are only relevant if you buy into the mythology the AP has created.
Case in point LSU jumping 5 spots to 8th. LSU lost to So. Cal. They beat Nichols, should have lost to SC, beat UCLA, S. Alabama then beat Ole Miss. To find that valid, you would have to assume that Ole MIss was not over ranked. LSU must be good right? They beat ole Miss. They do that with all the SEC and B1G teams that are considered middle of the pack. Mizzou? Give me a break. Murray St, Buffalo, Boston College, Vandy, A&M and Umass. UMass? Iowa St? N. Dakota, Iowa, Arkansas St, Houston, Baylor and W. Virginia. Iowa St must be good. They beat Iowa. wow. Penn St.? they beat Illinois and needed the refs to beat So. Cal. So what? Why is Illinois ranked to a high of 19th (then)? Because they were playing Nebraska that suddenly crept into the top-25 for some reason. Indiana? Currently 16th. Why?
And on and on it goes. Get back to us in January.

it is not just the Acc thing, look at Tennessee and Alabama. Alabama loses to Vandy, barely escapes Usuck, and does not drop a spot??? Tennessee loses to Arkansas and gets by Florida but tumbles to 11???

Bama lost to VANDERBILT, the doorstop of the SEC, and still only fell 4 spots.

That voting is a crime, right there. But, obviously, Dictoter Greg Sankey has edicted, SEC TEAMS MUST BE PROPPED UP IN THE RANKINGS IN EVERY SITUATION, EVEN AFTER AN UPSET BY VANDERBILT.
V.A.N.D.E.R.B.I.L.T.!!!
Followed by a very near upset by C.O.O.T.S.!!!

So, you think the CFP committee just starts from scratch and not with the polls as the lie. Like they'll suddenly put Indiana or Pitt at #2 or #3 because the AP and Coaches polls mean nothing?
Of course the polls mean something. They mean a heck of alot because they seed the mindset of the CFP committee.
