Does anyone think Cole Stoudt will be on a NFL team next year?

Dec 30, 2014, 5:55 PM

I personally think it's possible with the way he played in the bowl game. No he won't get drafted but if he has a strong showing when the scouts come to town for pro day and shows he can consistently play at the level he did yesterday, i think a couple of NFL teams could see him as a reliable 2nd or 3rd string QB. He played very well in the first half against UGA, played well at BC, played well at Wake and played great against OU. Honestly, his only bad game was GT. He didn't play well against Louisville but was injured and was forced into action without practicing all week so ill give him a pass with that game. Some of you may be laughing at this post but i wouldnt be surprised at all to see a scenario like this happen. He has shown with the right coaching and time to heal from his injury, he can be a good reliable QB.

He is better than Logan Thomas.

CS should either look into coaching or broadcasting if he wants to stay around football.***

I think it is a High possibility that he will

Dec 30, 2014, 6:01 PM

be a possible maybe to get on a practice squad or the tryout period and get some pocket $$$$$

I think he may stare down his target too much and have a slow decision / read time.

anything is possible though

through family connections or something he might get invited to try out or practice till cutting time or something.

at best 6th-7th round to undrafted FA

He will likely either be a developmental backup or practice squad player at least next year. It will all depend on who he ends up with, their QB situation, and how well he performs in preseason camp and games.

I think Cole can get into the NFL. He's got good size, pretty good arm, and no one should question his team first mentality after this year. Remember, he played most of the season with nagging injuries which had to affect his game, but he never made excuses or alibis for his poor performances. That says so much about the young man's character. He finished his Clemson career in the best possible manner, and I'm hoping he makes it and does well in the NFL!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i agree. i think he only had one bad throw yesterday

Dec 30, 2014, 6:21 PM

I just think with the right coaching, he will be a good back up like his dad was in the NFL. You could see the pain Cole was in after some plays during the season and i give him major props for not coming out when he was obviously hurting and when the fans were booing him. Like you said, he never made excuses for his poor performance which does say alot about how Cole is as a man. I hope Cole can get a chance to tryout for a team

Better pro qb than Boyd ***

Realistically, he's not even close. I love the guy for being a gamer, but he has way too many flaws. Pocket presence, touch, time managment (he never payed attention to the game clock when a quarter was ending, not that it may have mattered at the time), etc. This discussion is embarrassing.

As long as Logan Thomas is in the NFL there is a chance.

Reminds me of all the Charlie Whitehurst haters in Nashville this year.

*Both guys have shown the ability to throw a nice touch pass if given even an average amount of time in the pocket or a lane to step into.
*Both guys showed running ability when it counts.
*Both guys got their butts knocked HARD into the dirt and popped back up for the next play.
*Both guys ignored all the negative press, doubters, haters and did their jobs.

Cole can only hope for an 8 year career as a backup in the NFL with the occasional chance to help the team when all the "popular" options are gone. As I heard a career backup QB say once "Best job in the NFL, being paid great money without the wear and tear on the body"

I don't think he'll be drafted but he does enough welol to get looked at. People forget that it only takes one team believing, you don't need the other 31 better yet tigernet's opinion.

He's built like a pro qb, can throw into tight windows. Throws the back shoulder, post and slant fairly well. He needs to work on touch passes and something is up with his pocket footwork.

No offense to Stoudt, but if Proctor and Harper

Dec 30, 2014, 9:03 PM

Aren't in the league, then I doubt it. Maybe the CFL possibly. Not including Boyd's name on that list because he wasn't a typical pro style QB like Proctor, Harper and Stoudt
