Constantly acts like God is on our side in a game. We are no more deserving than SMU in God’s eyes.

That is the main problem with christianity - every christian thinks they are part of some favored group Oh, and the fact that god doesn't exist, too.

You better be right. Or getting a Bible and reading it could help too. God loves Dabo just like he does all his children. That's not the reason Clemson wins football games though.

God does speak about the fool though. It is in all of us Tobias but the beauty of free will is the fact than we can accept or deny. I honestly do not believe in atheism. We all know there is something greater than ourselves but again we choose to accept Him or deny Him.
I believe I am favored in that I believe in Jesus Christ. Does that mean bad things are not going to happen to me or that I could not end up terminally ill? No it does not offer up that promise at all. It just means I trust in the fact that I know where I will be when he calls me home because of my faith in Jesus Christ and it’s all about what he accomplished on the cross and nothing that I can do on my own.

Absolutely right. I loved what the announcers said when they were talking to Tony Elliot about the shooting deaths of a couple of his players last yerar. Maybe not an exact quote but it was something like "we did not choose this path, but we were chosen for it". What great insight and perspective from a great human being. Dabo acknowledged God for the win, but in no way would Dabo either say or thin that He favored us over SMU ...... or anyone else.

I don't think God has a plan for College sports.
I do believe all things work to good for them that love God. In other words you can learn, grow, and increase your faith from any experience in life.

Not Biblically true at all. What you are saying is prosperity Christianity and it’s absolutely false. It rains on the wicked and the just, and there are many good and faithful believers of Christ all around the world who live in absolutely horrific circumstances or have horrific things happen to them.

It’s how you perceive those comments. Dabo never said we were more deserving did he? He just said it was God’s plan and I happen to agree with him. As a Christian I am happy to hear Dabo praise God and I know his faith is real.

How can you say it's God's plan for Clemson to win or lose a football game? It's not whether you win or lose it's how you you play the game and how you live your life. That's basically Dabo's message in a nutshell. Nobody wins at everything all the time so you better learn how to handle adversity in this life. It'll serve you better than being a gracious winner.

From SMU's online catalog - "Management of the University is vested in a board of trustees of civic, business and religious leaders - Methodist and non-Methodist."
Apparently there was a legal battle when they broke away from the church about 5 years before the church split.

POST HOG ERGO PROPTER HOC (I went ahead and looked it up for you)
The post hoc fallacy is a logical fallacy that occurs when someone assumes that one event caused another event simply because the first event happened before the second: Explanation The term "post hoc" is a shortened version of the Latin phrase post hoc ergo propter hoc, which translates to "after this, therefore because of this". Example "I ate fish, and then I got sick to my stomach. Therefore, the fish made me sick".

But a beautiful win tonight! Props to Hauser and Cole! And Parker. And Bryant Wesco.

There is nothing wrong with what he said. You’re misinterpreting it. You see, everything that happens is God’s plan. He was not taking away from SMU or anyone else. Simply just stating the fact that we are here because it must’ve been God’s plan.

I respect his beliefs and he seems to be sincere and consistent, even if that’s not my thing. I sort of wish he cut it short to allow more of the players to be interviewed in that moment.
And I would have chosen Randall or Hauser to interview. The men of the moment. No disrespect to Cade but why does it always need to be the QB getting the spotlight? Spread the love.

He said God opened a door, and we walked through it. We live in a free country, and we are allowed to express our religious beliefs in public forums. The only concern would be if Christianity were a requirement for the job, or a requirement for our players and staff, which it is not, as our tax dollars pay his salary.
It certainly doe snto offend me, but the dude was just excited and his inner Ned Flanders was out to play.

It is very suiting to thank God for the opportunity and to give Him the glory. It is very suiting to thank God for gifting the players with the talent and the ability and the drive and determination to go out and do the work and take advantage of the opportunity.
But, to say, "It was God's plan for us to win" is over the line. As a Christian, my response would be, "Well, then why did y'all even practice this week? If God decided y'all were gonna win, why were you working so hard and playing so hard and trying so hard during the game?"
God is sovereign. But, He has given mankind free will. I don't think God looked down and said, "I'm gonna make Miami lose at Syracuse and then I'm gonna make SMU lose in Charlotte. That is my plan." If that were the case, then Dabo should not give any credit to his players for their hard work and perseverance. They were just robots being manipulated by God.

I"m offended by so called "Christians" who get offended when Dabo says these things. Y'all obviously need to learn more about your religion. If you are a Christian you believe that ALL things happen according to Gods will. We can't answer as to why these things happen but we are told they ARE Gods will.
So with that said, it's 100% accurate and correct to say that it was Gods will for Clemson to win tonight.
I have zero problem with atheists who dislike these comments and think they are stupid but I am highly offended by so called Christians who make them. What, do you think God having to "will" anything to do with sports is to much for him? Do you think he can't possibly keep everything else how he wants it if he's spending time on sports too? That's utterly ridiculous if you believe in the God of the Bible.
Every single thing that happens on this Earth and in the entire universe happens because of Gods will. Even him simply allowing something to happen and not directly influencing it is still his will. This is because he is God and if God wanted to he could easily change the outcome of anything. SO, if he lets it happen even though he could change that IS HIS WILL. It's very simple.
Again, I can't always answer WHY something is his will, but I can say that it IS his will.

I think he wants to give God the glory whenever he has that platform - he also kept saying God had a plan for us - I think that was more alluding to the struggles our program has had and some of the setbacks they've been working through, even calls for him to be fired.
I don't think he meant God's plan is for Clemson to keep winning, but it was obviously for us to win last night if you believe God is in control of all things. I don't see Clemson skipping practices and preparation for any future games, thinking it's already planned out for us to win!

As a not religious person these kind of unintellectual takes on Christianity always make me laugh. The concepts of free will and scale of time are pretty easy to understand if you took the time to think it out. The Christian faith teaches that suffering happens on earth due to free will but upon death will cease for all believers. Also in an infinite timescale, a lifetime of suffering would not amount to a pin prick. Whether you believe all of that or not it's a pretty straight-forward philosphy. You're taking your belief, that there is no soul and this is the only chance we have, and applying it to another belief system.

Constantly acts like God is on our side in a game. We are no more deserving than SMU in God’s eyes.
ESPN removed all references to “GOD” in Dabo’s on field interview. And I mean all of them. Watch CF Final. So you’re good OP.

I agree with this. It makes it seem like God has preference to Clemson for some reason.
That makes me uncomfortable as a Christian to hear. The same goes with anytime a player claims they won because of God.

That's not right! You have Dabo honoring the Lord's help while going through hardships. With Dabos testimonial we have his experience of what the Lord has done for Clemson.
Since you mention it...Im somewhat offended at holier than thou Christians criticizing other Christians for how they choose to honor what the Lord has done in their life. There is absolutely ZERO wrong with that! Can the Head Coach of SMU say the same? Of course! Did he? I dunno. I didn't hear that. Perhaps you as a Christian should be offended by that instead, eh?!?

Dabo didn't say that we deserved it more.

He was thanking God for the blessing.
As James 1:17 tells us, every good thing comes from the Lord.
I consider winning a football game to be a good thing, so it's appropriate to thank God for it, just as we thank God for food on the table, a raise at work, etc.
Not everyone has food, or money, but that doesn't mean that those things aren't from God or that God doesn't bless people with those things. I don't see success on the football field any differently. Sure, it's fair to say that a football game isn't as important as basic human needs, but it's silly to suggest that God doesn't care about it.
Psalm 35:27 states, God takes pleasure in the prosperity of his servants. That naturally extends to all areas of our lives.
Why is it so hard to believe that God wants someone like Dabo, who uses his program to glorify God and do His work, to be successful on the field too?

But he did say it was God's plan. SMU just hasn't solved the "mysterious" reasons why.
Bad enough. Can't twist out of it.
Why work hard if it's already been predetermined and you can't change the outcome. How about answering that one for me.
