Anybody familiar with Scottsdale attractions...

Jan 2, 2016, 8:11 PM

Gonna have a couple days to spare. What is there other than the obvious? Restaraunts? Bar scene? Grand Canyon too far away?

If you like fountains, there is a 500foot one in fountains hills with a frosted golf course around it, you will be amazed what they can do with a frosted.

There is a cool meteor crater about 2 hours due east of Flagstaff, but I wouldn't make the trip from Scottsdale, a little too far for me. Winslow Arizona (from the Eagles song) is another hour east of the crater, it is a total dump and would avoid.

Be tough to make a day trip out of Grand Canyon.

You can probably get to south rim in 5 hours. Have a few hours to look around and then have to head back unless you could find somewhere to stay in Flagstaff. That would be a long day.

Scottsdale is sort of the "rich cowboy" part of Phoenix. Old town Scottsdale is interesting, tries to appear "old west". Good night life (Arizona State coeds, yowza!).

Just a big, old dry desert though.

Actually, if traffic is OK you can get to South Rim in 3.5.

Still a long day.

The Grand Canyon is not too far away, but getting there and back and seeing the canyon will be a long full day. I would suggest Sadona. A lot closer and nice. Tour on the pink jeep. If you like golf (I do), Scottsdale is a golf mecca.

I haven't been there in a while, but Scottsdale was a very nice place, but I lived in Glendale....

Grand Canyon is an easy overnight trip and you can make it down to Tombstone (which is a lot of fun!) and get back in one day if you leave early.
