Beautiful coin right there. I've got a decent coin collection, as do you. There is definitely value beyond the melt value of the silver quarters and Morgan dollars. The Buffalo nickles also have added value, but not as much as the others. You may be surprised at the value of some of your coins. Many may be worth in excess of $100.00+ apiece.

There are a couple of shops in Greenville, one of which is the reason they invented ten-foot poles.

patina or whatever, not nice and shiny from being cleaned. I have a lot of pretty ones that have obviously been cleaned. They look great, but no silver coin that is over 120 years old should look like that naturally.

Nice coin and Salty55 is probably about right on the value ..... hard to tell condition from the photo. I have a pretty good collection of Morgan Dollars, but I don't buy anything worse than MS-60. None of mine are super valuable. I buy MS60 because I do not want to pay to have them graded by one of the grading services and I figure that a coin is either uncirculated (MS60) or it isn't. I also collect pocket knives and now pretty much only but ones that are in mint condition.

I've got about 15 of my grandfather's old pocket knives. Only a couple are in mint condition... most are "well used".

I've collected since the mid 70s, but the last ten or twelve years mainly the $1 Silver Eagles, silver proof sets and all of the new 2021 and 2023 Morgan and Peace dollar issues. Have a 1878 - 1921 run of uncirculated Morgans including 1880, 1883 and 1884 Carson City mints in presentation cases which several years ago were the most valuable ones in the group.

Morgan collection, along the lines of TigerLinks®. Ideally, all will be slabbed (NCG or PCGS). That's probably unlikely, but what the heck.
That silver has almost doubled in the past two years hasn't hurt matters and it's industrial applications will likely keep a floor under the price.
When the Hunt brothers tried to corner the silver market in 1980, I passed a shop that was offering 22 times face value. I had about $45 in '64 Kennedy half dollars...figured they'd NEVER be worth that in my great-great grandkids lifetimes...so converted to just shy of $1K. Sometimes the numismatic side of the house loses to practicality!

Wife’s grandad (98 years old) asked his daughter to take his coins to some place in Charlotte to have them looked at. He has so many they can only take a little at a time. They made an appointment at this place, police were at the door; I say that because it wasn’t some place you could walk in to off the street, and they looked things over. Told them basically what they had and what they should look for when going through his other coins. They said they came out well that day on a few of them (do not know the $ figure) and gained a lot of knowledge. Maybe something to check into for informational purposes. Definitely do some good research.
