That wasn't the entire interview. They actually didn't put it in that article. It kind of shows what the author was shooting for. In the full article he talks about great everyone is at Clemson and what amazing people there are at Clemson. He even talks about how great everyone is that works in the facilities. It was very complimentary.

Can you really blame him…our coaches haven’t been coaching our kids up for the last 4-5 years.

I wouldn't call that shade, I'd call that honesty. If he felt like he was stagnant in his development he needed to do what was best for his future--and clearly it's worked, he's had a great season for UT.

With our QB and WR play from previous seasons, he probably wasn't being challenged in practice. Hopefully, an improved Cade and WR corps will change that Saturday.

So is he just supposed to ride the pine and watch his draft stock go up in smoke in this scenario when he has other opportunities available closer to home?

Makuba 1000% would not have lost his starting spot had he stayed lol he was def a starter on this team , I’ll say we rotate and play more guys than a lot of teams and some kids don’t like that but he would have started

said. Does seem to me there has been a few promising freshman we've had over the last few years that just don't seem to get better. Them again I look at a guy like Wiggins that IMHO improved a whole lot. Still either the relationships or coaches generally build, surprises me he'd say this publicly.

The ‘horrible’ Dabo coaching staff also developed low 3* DB Isiah Simmons into a NFL first round pick.

The only new thing he said was that he needed a reset. The rest of the article quotes are rehashes of his old podcast appearance. Nothing-burger.

Except for the 2022 season, when injuries constrained AM’s performance (although he played through the injuries and manned-up and didn’t use them as an excuse), he was a superb nickel back for us.

Same as he’s been a superb nickel back for the Longhorns this season.

He got passed and started losing snaps to a true freshman last year. Could it be he knew he was going to transfer and tried not to get injured. Saw the half assing to avoid injury with KC Concepcion at NCSU this past year.

Then got hurt and stayed hurt his sophomore year and then was afraid to hit anyone his junior year. Missed tackles every game going for the legs. It seems like it worked out best for both parties in this instance.

He got paid and this was an easy excuse. Not that he needed one but probably made him feel like it was justified. I don’t buy the BS though. Not exactly a position that has been horrible over the years.

B.S.

AM was very good playing for us in both 2021 and 2023, which was when he was healthy. 2022 he was injured but played through it because we didn’t have the luxury of quality depth to rest him.

He knew that his senior season (at Texas) was his final chance to show the NFL that he is worthy of playing pro FB at a safety or nickel position despite his small size (as per the typical NFL player at safety or nickel). In other words, he’s playing his St. year at TX as if his future career depends upon it.

"I just needed a reset in my life all-around, not just football but life in general," Mukuba said Monday. "I felt like that was the right time for me to make a move and try to find myself and find something to get me going. I believe I found that and found myself."

It wouldn't surprise me to learn Dabo invited this guy to leave because the kid wasn't doing his best. Dabo is the type of guy who has great respect for someone who gives life all he has. People like him are quick to notice deadbeats and guys who don't fit their environment.
