Last year vs this year in b ball....

Last year we had a great regular season like we did this year. That embarrassing first round loss to BC in the ACCT gave us the wake up call going into March Madness and we came out of the blocks playing tough.

The loss to Louisville in the semis of the ACCT this year didn't carry over to the first round. That Lousiville game, we almost had a miraculous come back like we almost did against McNeese St... That first half though was impossible to overcome. I've seen it was the lowest point total in a half since Wake in 2001. But then Stephen A Smith said it was the worst half since the shot clock came into play in college basketball. Both are embarrassing... but the second one is worse.

At the end of the day, any team can be beat on any given day.... especially in March Madness where there seems to be a 5-12 upset or two every year. At least it wasn't a 1-16 upset like we have had in the past.

Its not a good look for Brad coming off of a contract extension a day or two before. I just can't imagine a team so dull in March Madness knowing what is at stake. If a coach has to do any motivating, especially on such a senior-laden team is embarrassing and shouldn't have to happen.

I don't claim to know the X's and O's of basketball like I do football... but I understand competitive fire and will to win. We were so much taller than they were and we were pushed around like little children. No fight whatsoever. I've watched enough games this year to know we are in trouble if we are praying that Wiggins hits a 3 pointer to give us hope.

Its never as good or as bad as you think it is. Thanks to our seniors for playing with class and representing the university well (except for the last game). Wish them all the best and wish Brad gets the next team ready to go. We will be fine.

Perhaps losing the younger Hunter was a bigger piece than we thought....

I do not know, but agree....

Hats off to McNeese St for installing and not using a defense for two years waiting for the right time. Great coaching by that guy. We didn't see it coming and were completely inept at making in game adjustments.

Box and 1, zone, man-to-man.... I remember hearing they saw the defense McNeese St played once this year vs Cuse I think from Brad's post game pressor.

Regardless.... this team should have been able to make adjustments to get the ball inside instead of living with 1-15 from behind the 3 point line.

Were we locked out of the locker room at halftime again?

Guess the McNeese St surprise defense was like the TE shovel pass we couldn't figure out vs Pitt in 2018 that probably still haunts BV every night. It took him a half to get the DL to shut it down and contain their rush upfield.

And McNeese St gave us the 3 pointer until we proved we could hit one, which we did not.

The inability to get a first down to end the game was disturbing too. Dabo got cute with the big package run which got stopped turning the ball over on downs. The rest was history.

I agree with your post. That was an epic fail.

You can trace the pinnacle of Clemson basketball to a single moment in time. That moment was the moment Tree Rollins missed a dunk in the championship game of the ACC tournament. Phil Ford picked up the rebound and went full court for a layup and UNC wins another ACC championship. Clemson was great and the ACC was great but Clemson has never reached that particular pinnacle since - fact. Call it the curse of the Bambino or something like that but there are as many reasons or excuses for losing at tournament time as there are years since 1975. Coach in or out, AD in or out, Littlejohn renovated or not it doesn’t matter. I have said many times since then and have been wrong a few times since, but as a Clemson fan attending a ACC/NCAA/NIT tournament you won’t go wrong if you don’t pack a toothbrush.

It's not the loss.

It's how we lost.

Did you even watch the game?
