Remember it well. Said then and now you have to be dumb to try to punch someone in the head with your fist when they have a helmet on.

Interesting to watch the two coaches! Lou is in the thick of the brawl using his 98 pound “don’t kick sand in my face” body to try and separate 280 pound players from going after each other tooth & nail!
Meanwhile, Tommy stays on the Clemson side calmly talking with QB “clipboard Jesus” “63-17”
Charlie Whitehurst. Both are savvy enough to stay well away from the ensuing melee!
Interesting contrast!

I have never understood why players would go into that with helmet off or why coaches don’t just let them fight and wear themselves out. They have equipment on and are not going to get hurt.
