Student Tickets Update

One month ago I wrote to y’all, about tickets, I just received mine from the lottery. I’m a senior who payed iptay upfront for 4 years and I currently have 144 credits (I have this fall and spring left). I received: Hill for App State, Sanford, and Louisville. I requested USC and NC State 2 and 3. I had to pick App State 1. Shawn is a family friend.
Ultimately I’m upset because I know if I went to this school just a few years earlier I would’ve been able to grab hill or LD tickets for every single game. I’m upset with Ticketmaster, the administration, and most of all Neff.
I understood the system coming into the college, now every rule has been rewritten. I feel betrayed, what does my seniority even mean. I’m a normal 4 year student, feels like I’m being tossed to the curb. So if any lawyers are reading this and wanna probono sue the school, I’d be game. Did you know Clemson has a judicial body and yet no residents? That seems unconstitutional, I say the student body needs further rights on campus. Look into the student code of conduct: disorderly conduct subsection c. That section is taken to a draconian level, as to punish any student the admin don’t like. I would like to cancel the Ticketmaster contract, rewrite the code of conduct, give student tickets to each department to hand out to their students, and make sure every student can go to the game for 10$. I’m sorry, but the student pays the tuition, we should have the ability to vote and make sure every single one of us that wants a ticket can get one. Currently a bureaucracy of idiots profits and controls this ticketing system. Give to the students. I’m done rants, have fun reading boomers, this is your fault for letting yourselves get smoozed so easily into donating blindly.

i hope Student Senate can rattle some decision makers in Athletics this year.
ya'lls experience is best summed up as: your AD is from Georgia Tech and ya'll were never a part of the CFP Clemson
I am truly sorry
the experience use to be something
the whole parking situation . Clemson city increasing prices. CU facilities projects removing parking. that will also have an impact. i don't expect the Hill to be 50% this season. let alone lower deck student section. it's a true shame.
tickets on Ticketmaster are unreal expensive for trash games versus teams like Stanford...
anyways. i hope your class can fix this mess. it's bad now. it's very very bad now. we have old 1950s grads running IPTAy that can't compete with SEC NIL collectives. We have noon game Neff that can't stop staring at Miss Clemson during Homecoming games.
Class of 2013 has your back. Maybe we can take over IPTAY and 110

Just curious but if you are a student iptay member did you have the option to buy a season ticket? My daughter is currently a student and she was able to buy a full season last year and this year

Yes, but only lower deck or upper. No hill option. Hill used to be GA, now they check bands, ie tightened security.

Hope you do do better in school than in the ticket world because Neff has nothing to do with tickets. Talk to IPTAY.

Things have changed for students since the 70s when a lot of folks on this board attended Clemson. Students need to bring this to the attention of the Board of Trustees and President. Yelling at "old guys" like me will not get you any relief.

Friends at other schools had to deal with the lottery system and rationing were amazed that every Clemson student was given access to every sporting event.
Heck, there was even a lottery opportunity to get a "date" ticket for football, which was a season ticket {no student ID required} to every game. Some upper class guys showed me the ropes and I got the "date" ticket as a freshman for the '81 season.
Things have certainly changed. But that is the price to be paid for big time program where dollars are more important than building the college experience.

Like what part of this is basic supply and demand, there are complex factors at work from national corporations such as Ticketmaster to student population variables with additions such as the business school to just corruption. Theres also like a million other factors.

You have a rivalrous scarce good that has remained constant in its supply, and a customer group that has doubled. Even if ticket distribution was handled perfectly there still wouldn’t be enough of em to go around. If Skip Sauer is still part of the John E Walker school of economics ask him to explain it to you.

I understand your frustration. There is student government on campus and you need to get started with regard to judicial policy. With regard to tickets here is the reality. None of us have any control over anything that it is being done. We love having an $11 million coach, we love paying a baseball coach one and a half million dollars. We love having a an employment agency within our football program that allows us to have a whole lot of former student athletes and coaches who are now out of the game so they can get a paycheck.
That is who we are , and it cost a lot of money. So we will pay ridiculous prices for tickets for an opportunity to sit in the right place in the stadium for the right parking place. It is the new way of doing business. None of us fell asleep at the wheel. None of us think this is a great idea. We all know people who have supported it since 1940 and sat on the 50 yard line, and we heard them when they lost their tickets because they couldn’t afford the new ticketing scheme. You may be too young to remember bad football, but a lot of us remember and we remain loyal. Some of us felt like that we deserved better treatment. But we couldn’t fork up the money.
It does seem unfair, but we ask for it. Coach Swinney feels like this is what he needs to do to win and Graham Neff needed to make a Home run hire with baseball and here we are with a ridiculous ticket policy.
You wanna get really angry? Why don’t you go sit down in the courtroom at Pickens County and watch the children go through Monday-Friday being processed by DSS. Or maybe go to a homeless shelter and see what life is really about in too many parts of Pickens County. But until then, I encourage you to get going with the student government.

My daughter is a junior (88 credit hours) this year. Joined IPTAY Collegiate Club at orientation before Freshman year. She got tickets to 4 games this year:
App State - upper deck NC State - upper deck Stanford - upper deck South Carolina - hill
I remember getting tickets to all games when I attended Clemson in late 80's - early 90's. It's a shame that all students don't have access to tickets for all games like in the past.
I've heard that the Student Government played a role in these changes because students didn't want to wait in line for tickets like I used to have to do out at Littlejohn.

“ I’m done rants, have fun reading boomers, this is your fault for letting yourselves get smoozed so easily into donating blindly.”
That wasn’t a rant it was a tantrum; the good news for you is that you still have a semester and a half to grow the F up. You know how much of your tuition goes towards supporting the athletic department? It’s an easy answer; 0.0. Those boomers that you want to blame (I am not one) are the folks who helped IPTAY raise over $80M last year and are the reason we can afford to pay our coaching staff 10s of millions of dollars.
How many Women’s basketball, volleyball, tennis, lacrosse, or other lower profile games did you attend last year? If we change anything I would like to see the students get points for attending other athletic events, and supporting other student athletes, that will increase their chances in the football lottery.
Also do we still give blocks to frats and sororities? If so we should axe that too.
Sorry for your luck, but times is hard man it costs a lot more to win today than it did just a few years ago.

Stadium sit 80k+ student body is <30k. Not every student will attend games, but they should be afford the opportunity if they please. You can raise prices for, oh I’m gonna say it again, boomers.

Undergraduate enrollment has grown 30% since Dabo took over as HC
Aug 28, 2024, 9:47 PM
|
|
The size of the stadium has not. In fact the count of hill tickets has decreased significantly in that time; perhaps you should be mad at the fire Marshall instead of the people paying the bills. In 2018 there were 10,200 student tickets in 2023 there were 9,200; a big part of that difference could be the hill.
I didn't get you started on anything, but if don't like the court system do something about it. I can't, as a student you can.

I crossed threads about the courts that was from some else’s post.
As for the stadium, I have some ideas: make the hill bigger. Literally just move dirt. Obviously lots of design, but limiting ticket numbers is dumb. The security infrastructure in the country is ruining it.
Involve more PhD’s in the process. What’s a lawyer or fire marshal going to say to a civil engineering PhD? Nothing cause they have more knowledge.
Professors are acting out of fear on a larger scale too. They need to fire so many people that don’t teach on campus, and collect a nice pay check for lazy work.
As for the students we have to somehow have one voice and get our seat in the valley back. If not it’s only gonna be those with daddies money at games. Not very university like.

How does one make the hill bigger?
Aug 28, 2024, 11:19 PM
|
|
It's bordered by concrete at the top metal bleachers on either side and the field at the bottom. Adding more dirt doesn't really appreciably increase the surface area.
If It's a fire code issue an engineering professor isn't gonna change the law. I don't know what really happened with respect to how the hill is being managed; no one has really adequately explained that as far as I know.

What’s crazy is that student to stadium size ratio, Clemson is largest stadium in nation besides ND.
You’d think we’d be able to host more students than we do. I’m always amazed at how many students SEC schools allow in their stadiums. And it’s insanity that we stick students in upper deck.
South Carolina has students that sit all the way from the 30 yard line and wrapped to end zone. Nobody in upper deck.

Never imagined it would be this difficult for my son, a new student at Clemson, to attend a football game in the student section. Part of the allure of coming to Clemson was the great football history, and the idea of witnessing a season, with his fellow students, at Death Valley. No tickets for him, no lottery wins, etc etc. Now he's wondering if and how he will get in to see a game at all. I'm really surprised why Clemson would do this to their student body... it's going to hurt them in the long run when their alumni just don't care.

Our tickets are very near the student section and they were awesome last year. 30 minutes before the game it’s packed and they don’t stop screaming til the end. The only section that ever has any empty seats is where the athletes from other sports sit. I noticed that a lot of those kids make an appearance in the first half and then leave. It’s hard not to notice when the basketball team enters and exits the stadium. I think block seating is a thing of the past. There was an entitlement to those sections that needed to be pruned.
