Is pure garbage. This is why the sport will die…

It’s ridiculous that we’re trying to pay and convince these kids to stay.

The only reason the popularity is still high is because it’s a lifelong habit for most of us.
But that can certainly dwindle away.

But I have completely lost the connection to the student-athletes representing my school. Now - we have to pay for them to represent us…

It ludicrous to blame the athletes for wanting a fair share.

More discussion of NIL.
More discussion of the TP.

This post is good evidence for that.

I’m hopeful that like any functional market, this will take sinusoidal moves towards towards “normal”.

Given the fresh car smell of NIL, I keep telling myself that the sin curve is well above average at the moment. That’s hopium, I know, but it’s reasonable to believe this brave new world isn’t sustainable and that NIL will come back down to the mean.

This is what happens with the “professionalization” of college football. Agents tell these kids to hold out, remove Clemson from their Social Medias, and be coy online to get a bigger bag.

That being said, that doesn’t mean they are only playing for money. For all we know, they’re getting a pay cut (relative to the portal and tampering offers) to stay because of their love for Clemson.

I’ve taken pay cuts to stay at a job I love, but I’ve also leveraged a counter offer from a different company to get a raise I was previously denied. It’s just about finding your value and making sure you’re compensated properly. Can’t knock these guys for doing the same in their “profession.”

Bye… you think you’re so important that you have to tell the entire board you’re leaving like we care? Like Clemson University cares?

I see posters posting this daily on here. Whining and crying bc guys putting their bodies on the line every day of every week want to get a share of the pie they’re mostly responsible for?

Any of you that whine and cry and tell us you’re losing interest or you just don’t care anymore… ummm ok??? I guess…

Who cares? Nobody on this board… nobody at Clemson me nobody in college football. For every 1 of you that quit on the sport they’re 10000 more waiting to take your place.

College football is more popular than ever and it’s not going anywhere. In 20 years this will be the new normal and it will continue to rake in the cash with each passing year.

Quit crying about not caring on the board and just walk away. Yall blame the kids for announcing they’re coming back when you also feel the need to announce that you don’t care and you’re losing interest.

Pot meet kettle…

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Excellent post! 1,000 points for you.

Hang in there. It's early yet and this isn't a permanent position. The process will evolve and the likely result will hopefully be an improvement for all.

Look at it this way.
Right now we have to play the game. If we don't, we could likely join WF , Duke , GT ,etc as bottom feeders in the ACC .

Do you think the SEC would still find us attractive and extend an invite ?

I think not. Let's just do what we have to do to not get left behind and once there we can all work on a satisfactory agreement on how to shape the new conference.
