Colin Cowherd today says "I just talked to somebody yesterday very tied into college football and he said "Alabama's having money problems. It's just hard. It's just who are your richest four boosters It's changing it. Changing the dynamic."

That's fantastic in a way. Nothing against Bama but they do carry weight. Perhaps if more do, and I suppose they will, we might get better and quicker resolution to this mess.

I'm doubtful they are but if so it doesnt bother me. The whole collefe football model is horribly broken and if it collapses under its own greed I wont have a problem with it. This has gotten stupid and isnt sustainable. I've reach the point of massive disinterest.

I’m headed there myself and then throw on the season we are currently having and that just makes it worse.

Maybe that’s how the democrats in Virginia used loads of cash to get elected as State AG a nut who posted on his X account that he fantasized about murdering Republican lawmakers and their children. What a sicko !!
That guy needs some serious mental health treatment. If one of us posted something like that on a social media site how long do you think it would be before the FBI showed up at our house with a warrant and handcuffs.
My friend who is an assistant AD for a college in SC told me that if NIL and Revenue Sharing were implemented it would be the catalyst that set in motion the collapse of athletics on many levels. Add betting into the chaos then you really will have a major crisis.
I believe that is where we are headed. If we are not there already.

Yeah, I guess that's kinda the point I wanted to make. That it gets bad enough for the majority of big time institutions that it will burn down and then maybe something realistic will arise.

I am there. I only watch Clemson games and have for 2 years now. I refuse to watch it. Now if Indiana starts to make some noise in the playoffs I may watch them given it is a team that has really never sniffed success.

The NIL door has been opened and to close it would take years of legislation and court cases so just accept it and enjoy the beautiful fall.

Apparently legislation is coming. The SC AD said he anticipates the SCORE Act to be passed in the summer of 2026, effective 2027. Still, much damage could occur in the interim.

The ACC will be lucky to get ONE team in the playoff this year and its leader is weak.

This is what will happen. You cannot alienate 70 To 90 schools and expect to have the same viewership.
The main issue is the NIL has eliminated hope for many schools. You cannot alienate no longer count on developing a player at a lower level school and make some noise every 4 years or so. The lack of hope with fans will be the undoing of CFB.

I wouldn't be surprised, if true, that Alabama won't be the last.

This entire NIL business was a bugaboo in the first place. Toss in that blatantly stupid decision to open up the transfer portal, and we had a sure-fired recipe for disaster.
The most pathetic part was the lack of foresight among the schools that resulted in their failure to unite and get a grip on this unholy creation before it got out of hand.
Say what you want about Dabo Swinney, but he forsaw all of this, spoke publicly about it and tried his best to steer clear. Every Head Coach in this nation with a grain of reason in his skull should have been standing with Dabo crying for rhyme and reason. So should have members of the sports media who have proved to me to be a pack of chickensh*t cowards.

I am not asking for praise or TU’s but I posted in 2017 and each year after that about the impact of NIL.
I started posting in 2017 that if Clemson Football were to decline from Elite Status, it would come from outside forces. That’s exactly what has been happening for the last 4 or 5 years. Some may disagree but with all of the chaos, greed and influx of large amounts of money to immature kids who many like Arch Manning will blow it on a $100,000 to $200,000 car. It opens the door for drug use, gambling and other things unrelated to education, investments and use the money responsibly.
IMO, Dabo has done a great job keeping Clemson in the CFP mix until this year. From 2020 through 2024 Clemson has won 10 or more games a season with the exception of the one year we won 9 games. That’s with all of these outside forces, dirty recruiting and schools like OSU, UGA, Bama and Indiana put more money into football too stay at the top.
A few posted that kids deserved to be paid since they were bring in the money for their school. Some said it was long overdue. I wonder how those people that criticized my post feel about NIL now ???
Ok if they are getting paid eliminate scholarships. Let them pay their own way to. At least some money will go back into Clemson, Bama and all of the other programs.
I really hope Dabo can get us back on top. But will we have enough money to buy the talent necessary to get there. ??? Even if Dabo were to leave, the next Head Coach will have the same problems overcoming money issues and the TP. If it’s true that Alabama is having money problems then things are worse than I thought.
What can save college football or can it be saved ??? It’s a sad sad time we live in 😞🙁☹️😡🤬
Go Tigers !

We need to move to a franchise model, much like the NFL.
Have a league that is a franchisor.
And then university is a franchisee.
Then we have the legal structure for collective bargaining, revenue sharing and a business model that translates into 10 times the current TV revenue.
A couple things can prompt this, and one of those things is for Georgia and Alabama to realize they will never have the money to compete with Texas, Texas A&M and maybe even Texas Tech and Ohio State.
Bama and Georgia got burned with some top recruits this past spring and this past summer. These recruits were locks and then Texas, Texas Tech and others came in at the last minute with BIG bags of cash. If that happens more and more, Bama and Georgia are going to be perennial number 10 instead of perennial number one or number two.
At some point Bama and Georgia are going to realize the current model is not working out for them.
There are some other schools that might find themselves in the same situation feeling like they can’t compete with Texas oil money …… Auburn, Tennessee, Clemson, FSU and more …….. ??????
