Air Noland/NIL

Clemson ranked 2nd behind only UGA in NIL expenditures. It surprised me because I thought Clemson was a smaller University with good but not funding like Texas and UGA.
But I now cannot point any blame at our use of NIL when missing out on recruits. Anything Ohio St offered Noland, Clemson could match it. We lost Noland because of being late to the party.

Absolutely, I think you come closer to hitting the head of the nail bc the kid was really serious about Clemson at one point....

Ohio State offered Noland later than Clemson did
Clemson is not a desirable destination for skill players right now. It’s just reality.

You think we lose out on Mike Matthews? Sammy Brown?

I think Sammy Brown fits really well with the Dabo culture. He seems to really like everything Clemson stands for, and having Trotter and Carter heading out soon you can pitch to fill in behind them and come be an All-American. Plus Georgia is loaded at linebacker, Clemson should make sure to throw that in there when comparing. It’s definitely between Clemson and Georgia IMO
Matthews is hard to figure out, Tennessee is the team that has the most steam lately. I think a lot of that depends on what Clemson looks like this year with Riley calling plays. He’s definitely a priority, they’ve been on him heavy for a long time. Grisham doesn’t have the best track record with snagging recruits that everyone wants though, his only big win on the recruiting trail was Stellato because Ohio State and others really wanted him, and that one hasn’t turned out great yet

That is just not true. I think the Streeter hire as OC, and now the Garrett hire bc most recruits, HS coaches, and parents don't see Garrett as a long time fixture at Clemson bc he is or will be a Top HC candidate very soon....

Tell me you have a 58% pulse without actually telling me you have a 58% pulse.
And no, before you try it, it’s not a case of ”pulse? What kind of of p***y cares about pulse? All that means I tell the truth and y’all can’t handle it.”

How can people still be this ignorant about NIL?
Clemson can NOT provide NIL money to any athlete. Period. All NIL money has to come from outside sources (individuals, businesses, collectives, etc) in exchange for something like autographs, appearances, social media posts, etc.
I’ll say it again: Clemson University can not pay NIL money to any athletes.
Clemson is number 2 behind UGA in recruiting budget. That has nothing to do with NIL.

What would be cool is if there were some way someone could add up all the estimated NIL deals for recruits/players on a school’s team. Then they could say things like “Georgia spends X on NIL.” And “Clemson spends Y on NIL.” Then we could better understand the recruiting landscape, even though, legally, it’s not the school paying that, of course.
I sure wish there were some way someone could do that.

Clemson was #2 in recruiting expenses, not NIL. Recruiting expenses is travel, staffing, entertainment, etc. we’re nowhere near the top in NIL.

No, no, no. NIL are booster payments of pay for play. What

you are referring to are our in-house expenditures.
Clemson is nowhere close to #2 in NIL monies. Probably nowhere close to top 25 for that matter.

Where are you getting those numbers? What I saw posted earlier was recruiting expenses which includes transportation, hotels, food etc for the visits of the recruits and their families as well as the expenses our coaches have when they visit recruits. You guys need to stop worrying about NIL because it was a no factor last season and will be again this season.

We ranked second in recruiting funding, not NIL. That’s what we paid to wine and done on OV’s, travel expenses, etc.

We recruit nationally, therefore the cost of air transportation is greater than for most schools. But I saw where we were ranked 11th in recruiting, we outspent everyone but UGA. Some years are like that.
