Is this the most disrespected team of Dabo's tenure at Clem?

Has to be. People act like we're coming off a losing season last year. A preseason ranking of #14 coming off a year where we finished with 5 straight wins and a top 20 ranking makes you overrated now? All this just because we don't use the portal? I don't get it.

Most definitely. Dawg fans I know are just laughing about the game. They think they’re gonna win by 30. Not even picked win the ACC, even though FSU lost half their team

No...the team that featured KB was the most but being in the ACC allowed us to weather the storm with a good D...when we leave for the 'promise land' that will go away...hope you SEC worshipers will fess up when we crap in our mess kit! If we make the CFP every other year in the SEC I will gladly admit that I was a fool!

Certainly in the last 10 years. The amount of disrespect for Dabo and Clemson never ceases to amaze me. Even after all these years as a Tiger fan. I kinda like the idea of being the underdog but get tired of the pundits trashing us. I think we hurt em during our run. Here’s to another one!

I don't see the disrespect. We finished the year last year losing to #21 NC State, beating #14 Notre Dame in a close one, and then four wins against unranked teams. The last one was an extremely close win over unranked Kentucky. We finished the season ranked #20. In the off-season, we lost a lot to the draft and to the portal. We brought in a handful of touted freshmen, but they're freshmen.
We could have a good season, but thinking #14 is "disrespect" after a season where we were #20 is stupid.

Clemson can't win anything significant with Klubnik as the QB. He's just not very good at all.

Some of you act like we are unranked and picked to finish near the bottom of the ACC.
THAT would be some legitimate disrespect.
We finished 20th last year, after going 9-4. It was the third year in a row that we failed to meet preseason expectations.
In other words, we have been OVERRATED the last three years.
From last year’s team, we lost six players to the NFL. Five were on defense, and one was our starting running back. We also lost about a dozen guys to the transfer portal, including our starting safety and our starting receiver.
As you know, we did not get anyone from the portal. We are counting on guys currently on the roster, as well as true freshmen, to make up the difference.
Thankfully, we do get some key guys back from injury, which is perhaps why virtually all media outlets (yes, the awful, evil media many of you characterize as being anti-Clemson) have picked us to be BETTER than we were last year.
Disrespect? No way. We are actually getting a ton of respect for being picked six spots ahead of where we finished last year, despite some very real unknowns when it comes to our personnel.
I know a lot of you like playing the disrespect card as much as you can. It fits well with your little ‘ol Clemson, ROY bus, blue collar characterization, which of course you love to say that Dabo will use as motivation. In reality though, we’ve been given a ton of respect these last few years even though we haven’t earned it on the field during that span.
The fact that we are predicted to be better than we were last year is consistent with that trend. How anyone can consider that disrespectful is beyond me.

We’ve fallen below expectations the last 3 years. May be considered generous coming off a season of getting beat by Duke by 3 TDs and finishing the year squeaking out wins against 4 teams with 5+ losses that are far less talented than us…….at least on paper.

I think you hit on something there, we have fallen below the national expectations for Clemson. If we aren’t claiming the National Championship they seem to view it as an abject failure.
But notice how you don’t see the national media roasting all those stories SEC power programs like Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, Texas A&M, LSU or Georgia when they come up short. No, it seems Clemson is always held to a different standard…..an impossible standard.
Looks like it’s actually at Clemson where “it just means more”.

Because most of the last decade the teams you mentioned were completely irrelevant save for Bama and Georgia. We, on the other hand, were not. We won two natties and went to six straight playoffs. We were the only rival to Bama for several years in regards to overall success.
Obviously Georgia has taken our place this decade, but those other teams have been absolutely useless. So why would they prop them up and hold them to a standard to which they haven't lived up to since way before our success?
The other thing is we still recruit well and have so much talent yet have done so little with that talent. But none if it matters anyways. They are going to to say what they want. Only thing I care about is that we get back on track this year. None of what they say will affect how we perform on the field one way or another.

The rank is not the disrespect anyone is talking about. Being ranked 14th is either accurate or a little high until proven otherwise. What everyone is all up in arms about is the talking heads and the BS spilling from their mouths.

All preseason talk is just talk and speculation.
I believe we shouldn’t have polls until week 4 or 5. It always turns out different for the top 10 final poll than preseason

Last year's team was generationally bad by Dabo's standards

Recruiting was really off from 2019-22. And last year's team lost to Duke who was 4-4 in the ACC and even lost to UVA. That's bad. So in answer to your question, this is Clemson's least respected team since 2009.
My take is the program hit bottom last season, and Tigers will respond and improve with a 10-3 season. This year's team looks to have a statement to make.

Those were some of our highest ranked classes between those years. So in the literal sense, it was not "off." However, we all know it did not translate to on field success so I get what you are saying, but I would argue coaching was the issue rather than recruiting. With the same coaching staff from 2015-2019, we already have another national championship under our belt with those recruiting classes you mentioned.

Last season’s 9-4 record was (old rules) 9-2-2.
The 2023 team was better than 9-4 indicates. I expect a return to double digit wins … beat Georgia (17-7 win I say) and it’s all right there.

it will take divine intervention to hold them to 7. Realistically, we probably need to score 30 to have a good shot at winning. Holding Georgia to anything in the 20s would be a great performance from the D.

to shut those nay sayers down.
Does he have the horses to do that, we shall see.
The talking is about to be done, now it is crucial for this team to execute at a MUCH higher level than last year. Obvious that the losses last year were due to execution and poor protection of the football when we had it.
Excited about the upcoming year, no matter what "people" say. Typically being shot down is where Dabo thrives, but with Deshaun, Trevor, Christian, Dex, Tee, Sammy, Nuk, Isiah, and so on and so forth it was not difficult to motivate those high achievers.

You know they fear we can win it all without using the portal, it’s great motivation our team to prove they are incredible players & team.
Dabo is at his best being the underdog & we should pay these folks for lighting the fire 🔥, it’s going to be fun watching us beat their #1 as a 14 point underdog.
I honestly believe we can win a National Championship if we get to complete all the games!
