Word of warning to those looking at the draft and saying,...

...."See, Clemson is done. Three rounds zero draft picks. They just aren't recruiting NFL talent any more."
My response:
Yep, Ohio State had 7 guys in the top 45. Georgia, Michigan and others had a boatload taken as well. They clearly had more talent in the draft than Clemson.
But, that doesn't mean Clemson didn't have NFL talent on their roster. It just means that the NFL talent they had on the 2025 roster will be on the 2026 roster.
You have 2 choices 1. Laugh because they had no one taken in the first three rounds. 2. Be very scared because they have so much talent playing for them this year.
Note: I had this response ready to post on a couple of boards I frequent other than this one. I was waiting on someone to comment on Clemson's situation and I was gonna respond. So far, no one has. But, when they do I'll be ready.

It was a down year for us drsft wise but next year is going to be huge for us and these things tend to be somewhat cyclical from year to year for most teams anyway. We could very easily end up with 4 or 5 first round picks next season and that suddenly changes the narrative.

Some of draft issues this year are just kind of bad luck:
I think Mickens and Mafah having late season injuries certainly hurt their stock.
Carter was initially projected as a 1st or 2nd rounder going into this year…..he just really regressed for some reason and maybe he also had bad workouts or something I’m not sure.
Jake will probably go in a late round…he just never was enough of a well-rounded blocker to be really considered an elite TE

Clemson will always remain a good program and produce NFL Players as well as make a bowl game. A lot of teams would do anything to be in the position Clemson is.

What it tells me is that Dabo is an amazing coach and we are very blessed to have him leading our team.

I mean.. this is product of Clemson recruiting and

development not being up to snuff in recent years. I don't see how you could really argue to the contrary. Recruiting rankings, record on the field, and draft selections have all seen a dip over the last few years compared to the 6 year playoff run.
That said, recruiting seems to be back on the upswing right now, and Dabo has made some great upgrades to the coaching staff so anyone that thinks Clemson is "done" might want watch out over the next few years.

Makuba played 3 of his 4 years at Clemson. He was drafted 2nd round. Most of those touting our big drop off in talent also bash our recruiting during that time. We successfully recruited Makuba and retained him for 3 years. No one but him and maybe his family and agent really knows why he transferred. I tend to include him in Clemson players who were drafted.
