This is a BS reply, unless you know the young man, and have been involved with his life
On one hand, I guess we all deserve what we get.
Having not been raised in his environment, or know any of the structure he has had in the past, we really can't comment on how he got to this point.
We can pray that he'll get the help he needs, and will find answers to fixing this situation, and his life.
I hope he gets the chance to recover from this, and has a productive and happy life. I whatever profession the path takes him

I’ve lived that life...Was never given a golden gift from God to have a path out of it...I did it the hard way...Took blood, death, and much pain...so don’t speak to me about that sort of life...I’ve been there.
I feel no sympathy for him. He’s a grown man who pi$$ed away his opportunity and talents that young kids would dream of having...Like me when I was a kid...Your soft spoken words of wisdom or glass half full approach won’t change the ways for these kids...It’s a reality...something you have clearly never experienced...When you have an opportunity to get out...you take it...you get sucked back in and that’s on you...

Covid???? Really? Dabo and Venables gave this kid chance after chance and now some bleeding hearts on here are saying really crazy stuff like Covid. The WHOLE team was in Covid Protocol, not just DK! This kid reminds be of the Watson kid who played for the Coots years ago, "Squeaky" maybe? One thing Holtz got right at South Carolina when he said, "Watson can be filling NFL stadiums or sweeping them out!" I don't know what Watson is doing, but he never filled a stadium! To me this will be Dk, and it is sad, but also shows that some people, when given not one chance or a second chance or ever how many chances Clemson gave him, to do the right thing is not in his personal profile! As I said, I hate if for the young man, not a kid, has had every tool in the toolbox to become something in life, but he kept choosing poorly and making bad decisions. A simple motto in life is to, "Just do what's right", and Kendrick knows right from wrong, he's been around plenty of GOOD Quality young me and great coaches to lead, guide and direct him, don't blame ANYONE for his fate but him, especially not Covid! Was Covid the culprit when he was in trouble as a freshman and sophomore? Think.....

That was Derek Watson. He was eventually kicked off the team by Holtz, played at SC State, and bounced around a bit in the NFL/CFL. He was eventually arrested and convicted on serious drug charges.

Kendrick needs all the prayers he can get. Amazing how some are so quick to judge and cast stones. We should all feel sorrow for this fallen brother.
I hope he didn't have bad intentions being alone in a car with that gun.

Agree that prayer is needed for this young man. But he can be criticized for throwing away a Golden opportunity, and not learning from multiple times being disciplined. He let his coaches, fans and teammates down big time. ????

Agree. Someone said glad gun wasn’t used. Absolutely, this could have been a tragic situation. He could be depressed, and thinking he has no one or no where to go. Depression is a very serious issue. DK could have played on Sundays and helped himself and family.
Let’s pray he gets the help he needs.

SC state law is 21 for a hand gun and Kendrick is 20, so yes that’s a violation!

Yes it is. If you don’t have a concealed weapons permit, it has to be in the glove box, center console, in the trunk, or in a lockable box in the most back portion of your vehicle.

If you DO have a CWP, unless it is concealed on your person, it STILL has to be in a glove box, trunk, etc. Having a CWP does not give you license to ride/sit in a vehicle in SC with your firearm in your lap.

Hope and pray he can get the help that it seems he needs. He still has his whole life in front of him and can turn this around if he chooses. I read in an old post that he has a child and another on the way, if true he probably feels he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.... Of his own doing, but still needs our prayers.

This is probably one of the lesser serious reports I've seen on here compared to what I thought it was going to entail.
Yes, he messed up - however, something like simple possession of weed isn't going to hurt him with the NFL moving toward leniency on the stuff. And let's face it...marijuana is going to be legalized here before we know it and should have been done YEARS ago.
Now the gun charge COULD have really made this a terrible situation and I'm glad we didn't have to read about a former Tiger involved in a tragic headline.
Having been through Rock Hill and that side of the state plenty, unfortunately we have some sketchy areas in the state and can't blame anyone for wanting to be armed (or at least I hope that's what it was for).
This is by no means a career ender - context is everything here. Again, not excusing the behavior but some of y'all act like he held up a bank or was busted for dealing drugs.
