I left NYC to come back home to the Carolinas for far less money so I could be close to my children. That hits right. His comments paint an estranged father image and it’s not a good look.

Yep…I turned down promotions in ATL and NY over the past 32 years to keep my kids close to family and not move them during their middle and high school years. Now, I live next to my dad and help him with things as he ages. Don’t regret choosing family over money/ego one bit.

This is why no one can take you seriously. Brad can do no wrong and Dabo can do no right. I get being critical and Dabo has been imperfect of course. Being a good team does not make you elite or on the level Clemson was. PSU has not won jack since 81 and they have a severe black eye on the institution. It is truly an ignorant statement to say it is a step back. BUT these guys do work for FOX and oh they have the BIG contract. So yes they are biased and blow holing. Lavar has every right. He is a PSU guy. We would not be happy either. Quinn - take rhe BIG glasses off dude.

Let’s weigh the pros and cons than Allen weighed. It was a no brainer move honestly.

1. 2 equal programs where you can make the same money.

2. Which boss would you rather work for and in which culture. Clemson and Dabo all day.

3. He is not young and has an opportunity to be close to his kids and grandkids. I am going to enter the happy wife happy life here as well. Who would not do this.

4. Show me the list of folks that are not from PA that would want to live there. You have an opportunity to live in beautiful country with great weather during the winter vs PA. Easy choice here.

Well, it's number 3. The rest of it to him is equal. Tom is big 10. The weather for him was not a concern. As for culture and bosses, about equal. Except Dabo has won more. As Tom has said in all his interviews, it was the right time because of family. Dabo had to agree with his terms at psu, just be the coordinator. Like it or not, Clemson and psu are very much alike. Weather notwithstanding. Nice perk, but not a decided factor.

Penn St hasn’t been anywhere near Clemson’s success in the last decade and that’s not debatable. Penn St had a great year this year so give them credit, but otherwise, Clemson has run them off of the rails.

Your musings about football have relevance much of the time. If your musings about basketball were similar, people wouldn’t be nearly as critical. But often your analysis is so skewed it is easily squashed. Our relevance run in accordance to making it to the final 4 ran into this decade. It was 4 years ago.

Want to talk about those 4 years? PSU 2020 was 6-7. 2021 7-6 2022 11-2. 2023 10-3.

Franklin is well known for not winning the big games. He has one big ten championship. Anyone can catch lightning in a bottle.

I agree with a lot of what JK has to say, but not this. Penn St hasn’t sniffed a championship since the 80s, and has had 1 top 5 since the 1997. Franklin is not a good coach, he’s like Ryan Day. The (terrifying) mascot could do what he does with the resources at his disposal and the mostly weak schedule they play outside of 2-3 top 10 losses per year

easily say it’s a lateral move. I don’t care. Heck, I love it. Basically it says “all things being equal, I’d rather be in Upstate SC…I’d rather coach in Dabo’s program”. Works for me.

But the main reason it’s a stupid argument is this: Clemson won their conference and made the playoffs with a solid offense that returns a bunch of talent and a mediocre defense that returns a lot of talent. The missing piece, many argued, was a solid DC. Penn State took a top defense to a non-conference winning, playoff appearance. There’s not much more Allen can do to get Penn State over the hump. He can, however, make a significant impact on Clemson.

Just sour grapes on his part. Maybe he's embarrassed that Allen would leave Pen State for little old Clemson.

I don't hear him whining about the portal for athletes.

So he shouldn't whine about the equivalent for coaches.

Consider the source. Don’t know who he is and
quite frankly don’t care what he thinks.

You must be REALLY young to not know who Arrington is. He was one of if best LB in the pros. Quinn was no slouch in college either. Drafted in the first round.

But being great at FB does not make one a genius, as their statements prove.

The guy thinks that Penn State is above Clemson. He's a snob.

If you listen to the show, not surprising. LaVar wears his emotions on his sleeve for PSU. Loves his school as much as any any athlete anywhere loves their alma mater. He is saying these things as a super fan and donor as well.

As far as football field results, Allen’s decision will be proven right or wrong soon enough. His comments nor Quinn’s make me say

Allen has the right to take a different job that suits him better, for whatever reason he holds true. These guys sound like complete idiots. My advice to them is Stay Mad.

currently ascendant. Which one has the better culture… which one is a better fit for him. How could that not come up especially in the NIL what’s in it for me era. Wait a couple of years… if Clemson’s D is strong then IMO Clemson will be back and the gloomy days of 10 win seasons, just winning our conference championship and just making it to the first round of the playoffs will be a distant memory.

Wonder what he was doing when Sandusky was running amok as PSU?***

Lavar Arrington was a great college player. I am excited because he is upset with it. To me it means maybe it was a home run hire

That's about as sour grapes as a guys attitude could be. People have a right to change jobs. You might not even keep a player more than one year these days.

Brady Quinn? Seriously?

Quinn and Arrington’s made them look weak to both of their podcast subscribers.

This seems like a no brainer and an easy decision. Allen has kids and I guess grandkids in the Carolinas. No desire to pursue head coaching opportunities. Working for head coach that has an incredible track record including multiple Conference Championships and two National Championships. Stable program and position. Great talent to work with. Beautiful weather and area of the country. 😀
