The football team won the title less than a year later (the next season).

Will we see a repeat of these events this year?! :)

We can hope, but this year may be a stretch. Barring injuries (and a ridiculous SEC and BIG bias), I’ll be disappointed if we don’t make a 12 team playoff.

I mentioned the same thing to my Dad. We watched both as he/we have kept season tickets since the mid 1970’s. I was praying for a final four in basketball and one more Natty to share with my Dad! I believe! Baseball championship coming too! Softball has kinda been a letdown. But, it’s the golden age of Clemson for sure.

Incorrect, but thank you for playing.

UGA won at the end of the 1979 season, making them the 1980 national champions. Clemson won it in the 1980 season, making them the 1981 champion.

March 1980 —> August 1980 —> January 1981.

Uhhhh ... are you sure about that?

In March of 1980, Clemson Basketball advanced to the Elite Eight of the 1980 NCAA Basketball Tournament.
Six months later in September 1980, Clemson's Football team lost to UGA, who went on to go undefeated and beat Notre Dame on January 1, 1981 to win the 1980 National Championship.

Interesting. No problem admitting when I’m wrong. Wonder when they made the switch to the national champions being referred to by the year they won and not the start year of the season.
