Any chance one of them, or maybe another CB moves to Safety next year?
As STOUDT  as our front 7 will be next year, i'd like to get as much speed & as many ball-hawks on the field as possible to capitalize on what I think will be an abundance of opportunities for INT's.
FWIW, I like Van Smith. He's a solid steady presence on our D, & it won't upset me if he starts, but I think we could increase our chance at TO's & defensive TD's with someone else at Safety
I'm thinking...
A pass rush of: Ferrell, Wilkins, Lawrence, Bryant & Co
With Blitzing LB's: O'Daniel, Lamar?, Joeseph & Co
Secondary: Fields, Baker, Muse, Baker
Jadar Johnson's range as a safety has really helped us this year, & that's what got me thinking.

That'll work. Wasn't familiar with him, but 6'4, 215lb former track star sounds good to me.
Bio says he played WR his SR year & averaged over 30 yrds a catch & returned his only KO attempt for a TD.
Look forward to seeing how he progresses.

Smith and Wallace will be the starting safeties next year.

Edmond is about 5-10 at most and Baker is slightly taller, but they both weigh about 178 pounds.

Wouldn't look for Baker to start at corner. My guess is Fields and Mullen, or Edmunds. Wallace, Muse, Smith at safety.

Baker is a question mark cause he's returning from injury, & you just never know how that will go.
I'm admittedly not as familiar with the young guys as I used to be, but it sounds like we are in good shape.

CB - Baker, Edmonds, Carter are all RS SR. + K'Von, Trayvon, Fields, Wiggins we can play dime all day on a spread team.
S - 23 + Denzel, And both Isiah Simmons and Tanner Muse are 6'4 with length, quickness, speed, and excellent ball skills.
Plus we just signed AJ Terrell and probably Xavier Mckinney who are high 4-5 * guys.
What will The Media do when we're still ELITE after DW4 goes pro? They will be dumbfounded...

That's what I'm thinking too.
We will be different, but the defense will be crackin skulls next year & getting a lot of TO's.
Offense will still be elite too

Highly doubt a corner moves to safety. Don't know why you are bashing Van Smith. He has played a lot better than Jayron and TJ did last year. Have plenty of talent at safety.

I'm not bashing Van Smith. He's a good player for us, but he's not the fastest guy & he's probably not going to get as many INT's as the other guys could potentially get.
I agree he's been more consistent than the guys last year & that has helped.
We shall see. As NFLU said, none of us really know.
But we are in good shape it seems.

I think it will play out the way it does every year, all of these people will predict who will be starting and then it will be a completely different group lol. And LOL at someone saying Simmons will start bc of how good he has done in power hour and scout team practice. There's a huge difference between that and a starter.
One thing is for sure, K'Von Wallace will be one of those starters. I do expect to see the seniors get theor opportunity because that's who Dabo is, but there are a lot of young studs that Coach Reed has been grooming who are just waiting for an opportunity. It's gonna be a fast and athletic bunch. If Tanner Muse were a ltitle smarter, he would probably already be out there. I hope he takes a big step this off season
