Adam Randall at backup Running Back

With the injuries and lack of depth, I would like to see him converting positions for the playoff run. This assumes he would want to do so.
At 225 lbs, he has the size. The KO return last night reminded us of his athleticism despite the drop on the depth chart. His pass catching abilities would be strength at the position. It never seemed to work at receiver so hopefully a change of position ignites his potential.
Last night SMU’s running back had a great game and he didn’t know what the A gap was six months ago.

This is a great idea.
Unlike any of the other healthy players not named Phil Mafah in our RB group, Adam Randall has held the football numerous times during live game action against ~ good opponents. K.Adams Jr, Jarvis Green, and Ezioume have not.
As far as a RB being a receiving threat out of the backfield … just think of wheel route possibilities! … he’d be superb.
Adam Randall is not likely to know the RB’s pass protection blocking assignments. That would be one of his (big) deficiencies as being put in as an immediate ootion at RB. Knowing where to go during pre-snap motion would be another thing.
However, there is practice between now and our first playoff game. Use that practice to teach the above RB 101 Basics to Adam Randall.

1. Mafah is clearly very banged up 2. Haynes got hurt 3. Shipley went pro early and Kobe Pace transferred so he can start..which he has 4. All other options are up in the air...like most schools when they get to a 3rd/4th stringer.
Really though, Adams is pretty solid in getting the same that Mafah can.

I think he could do it but he could never learn the position in time. Especially the blocking.

I think it’s an unrealistic ask of Randall for him to learn a new position within 2 weeks. However, a special package could be an effective route to go. Similar to what the Niners do with Deebo Samuel.

I think he could work in a two back set so you could use him however they see fit and possible wheel routes
