ACC rule

What's the rule on the booth buzzing down a call? The call where Cain had his knee down (which was a good call), but CU had clearly snapped the ball for the next play prior to it being buzzed in. I thought once the next play started, it couldn't be called in. Just a rule question, this play obviously didn't have an outcome on the game.

Obviously the booth buzzed down right before the snap. Happens a lot.
