I haven't wanted to kiss the gift horse on the mouth, but that's less than a 50/50 ball against a competent safety.

To be fair to the safety, we hadn't successfully completed a pass like that in years. Hardly even attempted any so he could be forgivenen for assuming that Wesco wasn't going to go racing by him on that route.

I don't know...

Wesco seemed to find another gear and ran by the defenders like they were standing still.

For an average receiver against a decent safety it’s 50-50 at best. Wesco’s speed changes the equation. To play him properly, the safety will need to get deeper, opening up underneath routes.

It was a beautiful throw but probably a touch

too late / ill-advised against legit safeties.

I'm just a guy on a couch, but I thought Cade looked much better mechanically and was throwing much better balls than he had in awhile. He threw some laser beams over the middle which isn't something we had seen from him much. The only pass I remember that was placed poorly was the fade to the right corner of the EZ.

He still seems a little late with some throws though, and I think he's going to put some balls in harms ways when we go up against better defenses. I'm generally OK with that though as long as he stays aggressive and decisive. Hopefully that's something he will continue to improve upon.

The first ball to Antonio Williams was late...

but he made up for it on the very next play when he went right back to Williams for the TD.

Aaron Murray's conclusion was that some of Cade's success came from an inferior secondary. That makes sense. This is why we see scores like this when a first tier team plays a lesser tier team. Still, I think a lot of Cade's success came from confidence in his O-line being able to protect him. Those guys did a great job! I am anxious to see how they graded out.

I get App was "inferior," but it's not like they were some bums. People had legitimate concerns that Clemson would lose to App State. Regardless of competition, what that offense did as a unit, and what Cade did as a player, broke multiple records--some school, some conference, and some national. Obviously, we will know a lot more about where the offense is next week when we play NCST, but that performance took more than just getting lucky. If we maintain half of that intensity all season, we will go a long way.

After watching the Georgia game and seeing how well they held up against a great dline, probably the best we will see (at least until playoffs/if we get there) I believe watching that film he saw he has time and can trust the line. Hopefully he still stays alert because free blitzes will occasionally happen but he looked very relaxed and hopefully that continues through conference play and so on.

This. Spot on. Jawja is the best D Line Cade will face in the regular season, hands down. He learned that he can trust his O Line and can learn to pick up blitzes more effectively, which has been a problem for him.
