Made it back Friday from great ride in 14’ Boston-Whaler JET Boat from Tybee to HHI

and when I got to HHI i decided to dock & enjoy a long-awaited & tasty treat out on the open deck at Hudson’s Seafood overlooking the Skull Creek section of the ICW.
Had a Half dozen fried oysters on the half shell seasoned with garlic & cheese, garlic toast, chilled draft beer with pineapple juice added & super crispy fries. Forgot to get their Key-lime pie..Dang!!
Check out some spots I passed while sporting the PAW Flag (Harbor Town Harbor & Lighthouse; HHI RV Resort & Marina & Hudson’s Seafood).
Trip over to HHI itself from Tybee Island took about 35-40 minutes one-way shore to shore, and I was back at Tybee boat ramp after 5 hours of sightseeing & late lunchDistance by car round trip approx 100 miles & almost 2 hours; by boat much shorter & quicker.
Go TiGERS!

As a teenager back in the 80’s, I dreamed of getting a 17’ Whaler Newport. That was setup more for general kid activity than the Montauks. I’ve just always loved the original designs for a Whaler but I guess today they seem dated.

Pic is from 2016 ride..and I should have had my life Jacket Zipped Up!
Top speed with the tiny 1993 Yamaha 50hp 650cc motor is about 25+ mph since boat weighs about 900lbs + people, gas & junk.
Not a bad speed at all & it can be made to do a tight & complete 360* turn at full speed which makes viewers gasp when the back end lifts up at the end of the circle while front is tilted into water..and at that point the jet drive screams with no water in it so I release the finger throttle to save it from high RPM’s.
Have had it for 21 years and taken it to Annapolis Md, Captiva & Sanabel Islands Fl, Wrightsville Beach & Southport & Bald Head NC..and dozen lakes in NC & SC, etc.

The Oysters would have made the trip anywhere worth the ride. I can put away an embarrassing share of steamed oysters on the half shell, or just set a few buckets in front of me with a oyster knife and a left handed leather glove, and I'll rip through them myself, just give me some elbow room!!!

One of my sisters and I were the oyster eaters in my family. She would bring home a pint. We would put them in the oven to grill with just a tad of cocktail sauce or ketchup on each one. I never order fried oysters in a restaurant. It's usually all batter and I need a magnifying glass to find the oyster.
I used to go to "Felix's" in New Orleans years ago for oysters on the half shell. Haven't been there for ages.

in a while now. Used to go often 25-30 years ago, co-worker owned a house there and only let family and people he trusted stay there. Didn't charge us anything, just clean up and leave it like you found it. Always hit Hudson's several times whenever there... the oysters were great, and I remember the gumbo was fantastic. Oh yeah, the shrimp po boy sammich, too! Yum.
